Thinking outside the box today, but a serious consideration nonetheless, especially if you're a serious PT.

Personal Training isn't just about training the person, even though that is the primary outcome. For example; changing behaviours and achieving appropriate and changing goals.
But since those outcomes can be hampered by those who have influence on the client, it's also about impacting the close circle around them in a positive manner.
Sometimes this won't play a large role in your thought process as a trainer but as usual "it depends". Remember you and your clients are somewhat a product of those around you and if close individuals (family) or their social group (friends) take a dim view on the changes you/they desire, this will have repercussions.

So consider the social situations and their variables when assessing what changes are plausible and how to create implementable long term change when giving guidance.
At the end of the day, your clients changes don't want to be threatening to the group around them, so think about creating an environment which can benefit not just the clients, but their โ€œsupport" network.

This movement is an advancement from the kneeing hinge video i posted the other day in several aspects.
Not only does it recruit the hamstrings much more, which not only decreases the injury risk on said muscle group due to the controlled lengthening of the muscle group under load, (eccentric) which is seen as the greatest factor in hamstring injury risk prevention (think short and weak - then try and lengthen them by running fast, bad times!) but it is a great movement for developing shape and strength to the rear of the thighs, if you have the mobility ofc!

The added load also adds in further difficultly in maintaining a neutral spine whilst the positioning demands added stabilisation from the core and helps strengthen the spinal extensors due to the load positioning not seen in the kneeing position. (Think hyper extensions)

To recruit the glute max further, bands are used to increase tension as the client returns to a standing position focusing on hip extension through squeezing her glutes but also by pushing her knees outward with another band above her knees activating the outside of her hips (glute med) which is (paramount for hip stabilisation, stopping valgus knees (knees pointing in) and pronating ankles - all regular and problematic functional movement issues i encounter often. .

Kneeing hip hinging with load
A movement which can be used to teach correct or improve proprioception before moving to complex movement or even post fatigue.
But also one when loaded horizontally forces full hip extension and glute max activation when using a band, as the tension increases through the movement, whilst minimising hamstring recruitment which I often see in people with under active glutes from being seated all day. The problem then being the hamstrings doing the hip extension instead of the glutes and potentially causing femoral glide and other chronic and problematic issues.

Also by adding in a plate behind the head it increases vertical load, stresses the core to stabilise more and helps teach the client to keep a neutral T spine and flex on the hips and not the back. Both fundamental in everyday movement and exercise under load.
Remember personal training has to be personal to the clients abilities and limitations, which change as they progress. This can only happen if you understand biomechanics and actually give a fuck about your team. Not genetic burpees whilst Snap-chatting your pals.

@yogifitzpaddy warming up his shoulders this morning with single arm down dogs. One of several exercises to activate and improve stability before the main exercises.
Apart from stretching the back and hamstrings the single arm version puts a further stretch on the wrists, and forces control and stability unilaterally from the elbows, shoulders and of course shoulder blades through scapula protraction and upward rotation.
A useful tool prior to pressing or to post fatigue the core with extra rotational stress for example.
