It’s all the work that goes on behind the scenes where people fail to make sure they move forward. The meals that are prepped and timed perfectly to make the most out of your session, and the sessions you get done in a baggy t shirt or hoody because let’s be honest you’re not a shredded, tanned Adonis anymore 🤷🏼‍♂️

It is these actions and moments that you have to put 100% in to it when no one is watching, to make absolutely sure that when everyone IS watching, you present something new and improved that is worthy of the prize you’re after. 🌊

I’m lucky to have a stronger team than ever at the moment. @ukbpisportsofficialteam @justin_mr_jt are helping to fuel my workouts and making sure I look good doing it 👀 and @team_lrf overseeing my nutrition, training, supplementation. I’m definitely best placed to move forward, it’s just down to me to put in the work. 👊🏽

In the second image we’ve got 25g whey & 70 oats, 150g cooked chicken and veg, 150g cooked chicken and jasmine rice, my pre workout pump potion consisting of @ukbpisportsofficialteam BCAAs and Best Creatine, fast acting carbs, salt, and Citrulline malate 🤙🏽. Post workout I’m getting 3 x squares bars in with 50g whey and some fruit to tide me over till I get home for a mound of cereal and dinner 🍗

From an entirely selfish point of view I can’t wait for this 2bros event to be over in 2 weeks so that we can begin to look forward to the schedule next year 📆 anyone have any ideas when it will be released?

Without seeing the shows I already know that I’ll be aiming to compete in around June time again, but this time just hitting show after show if I need to. The plan for 2019 is to improve on 2018, and show the judges a physique that will be truly ready for the pro stage. Once the coach @team_lrf and I think we’ve achieved the look we need, i think it’s going to be a matter of the right place at the right time 📌

I’ve just finished rotation 1 of my first microcycle with the coach and it’s been class. A new style of training that I’ve not subject my body to in a long time, and it is bound to illicit stimulation and growth. Bring on the next 12 months.

My first coached off season is underway 🙌🏼

I’m proud of how far I’ve come in 7 years of self-teaching and self-coaching but there comes a time where you gotta admit you need some help 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’ve contemplated getting a coach for a while now and that gave me a lot of time to study all the potential candidates, but one guy stood out from the crowd. 🧐

Results, knowledge, dedication and the calibre of clientele meant that @team_lrf was the man for the job. I’m VERY excited for the next 10 months in this team. You know what I’m going for next year. 💳

I like to call this: The Brightman. 💭

Well actually, I’ve only ever called this pose ‘mine’ internally. But today I was talking to someone who I’ve looked up to in this industry for years, and he called this pose.. ‘The Brightman’. _
This may seem trivial, unimportant and meaningless to you. But to me it meant a lot. I’ve spent years tirelessly building my physique, my persona within the fitness industry and a network of people who once were my idols.. but who are now my friends.

And some of them are my friends that nailing a pose I’ve supposedly put my stamp on in the amateur game 🤷🏼‍♂️ _

I definitely think the classic stage is calling me once I’ve matured my physique and laid down some more tissue. The ‘absoluteness’ of competing in a bodybuilding class is something that inspires me an incredible amount. 🔥

There’s nowhere to hide, you have to cover absolutely all bases. No weaknesses are permitted. No imbalances in your physique, no lack of condition, no lack of preparation with your posing or routine. It’s definitely something I strive for in the future. 👊🏽

EXCITING TIMES ARE AHEAD 😬

There’s been some exciting developments for me this week in the pursuit of a pro card next time on stage 🏆 I’ve decided the time has come to enlist the services of a top level coach. The idea has been on my mind for some time now and if I’m serious about turning pro in 2019 I need to absolutely nail the next 9 months or so. I know I’m knocking on the door, I just need the professional guidance and expertise to unlock it. So that’s what we’re gonna do 👊🏽

I’ve been back and forth with my chosen coach this week and I’m fucking excited to get started. This is going to take my training and nutrition to the next level, and leave me accountable to someone for the first time on this journey. Better still is that I’ll be able to learn so much that I can implement for myself and others in the future. 🧠

Today was Lower A for me and little @juliet_crouch and to be honest I’ve left really frustrated. For years and years I’ve relentlessly persisted with one exercise and for years and years it’s caused me pain: the squat 🏋🏼‍♂️

Since I was 15 I’ve suffered with lower back pain, and after seeing numerous physios, trying various different rehab plans, taking time away from the exercise and going back to it... I’m no further along in my path to being able to squat any kind of impressive weight without pain 😞
_
So now I think it’s time to call time on it. I need to think sensibly about the protecting longevity of my lifting ‘career’ (if you will), and think sensibly about how much I want to be able to pick my kids up in the future 🤣
_
Luckily we’re in an era of bodybuilding where people are beginning to realise there are more ways than one to skin a cat... or grow your legs for example 🤷🏼‍♂️ so from now on, more quad and glute tissue will be laid down in other ways than the conventional back squat.

The chest will be forced to grow this year my friends. Heavy pressing and fly movements are gonna be key... and the number one goal is to get my bench as strong as possible 💪🏽

Push A begins every week with 3 sets of flat barbell press: two ‘heavy’ sets of a maximum of 8 reps and then one ‘back off’ set of up to 15 reps 🏋🏼‍♂️

Tonight was a rep PB, up one rep to 7 @ 130kg from 6 last week, and you know I’ll be chasing that progression week in week out 🤨 I’m pretty happy with my form here and if I can keep it up, whilst increasing the reps and weights, it will be a different chest on stage next year 🤩

Over the moon for @callumvamplew today who secured some silverware AND a British Finals invite in his first UKBFF show ✅

A couple of days off to enjoy himself and unwind and then reporting back in for duty on Tuesday. Looks like we have some more work to do for October 🤞🏽

There’s been a lot of competition chat this week with my client @callumvamplew peaking for the Kent Classic... so it seems only right to drop a show day #throwback ☝🏽

More work required from me this year to get the upper body even more lumpy and bumpy (aiming for those @luckylibra213 vibes), then smarter work required next year throughout prep to get more silly shredded - I’m talking glute shredded - and to preserve an ok relationship with food 🤔

For now though, I’ve please divert the attention to the fact you can actually see quad cuts through my boardshorts. Goals 😉

So that’s 3 classes in 3 days before work this week 😅 I’ve got a couple more I wanna try: one based on a mixture of HIIT and functional fitness and then just straight up boxing 🥊

I will make sure my body is more mobile and fitter than ever this year, and in turn I will look more conditioned for it.. all whilst having fun.. more fun than doing low intensity cardio anyway 🙃

Tomorrow am I’ll be back on the cross trainer for some more low impact cardio before lower a in the evening.. then we’ll see what classes are on Friday morning again 🤷🏼‍♂️

I’m feeling very very good about a lot of things right now. Finally feel back to normality with food and in a position to regain some condition and maintain it throughout the year whilst making the improvements I need to come back better next year 🕐

This week has seen me do two more ‘functional’ classes at the gym alongside my usual resistance training, and it’s been so refreshing to step out of my comfort zone and try something new - something that is going to not only improve my energy balance in order to shift fat - but also move me forward with my general fitness and mobility levels 🤸🏽‍♂️

Yesterday morning I did a high intensity circuit that was mostly at 7 RPE using the assault bike, skillmill, ski erg and rower.. it kicked the shit out of me 😅 but it felt good. This morning I took part in more of a normal ‘circuit’ session, and tomorrow I have ‘strongman’.. full reports coming soon 🙌🏼

Kcals are at 3000 and I’m hoping to see the weight drop with this increased activity but I’ll be keeping you posted 🏋🏼‍♀️
