Plyometric training/jump training is one of the most misused/poorly trained parts of athletic development that I see on a daily basis. Social media has made it cool to post someone trying to perform a very high box jump or complete a very complicated plyometric circuit. Sometimes they even put weights or hook apparatuses up to them because it looks even cooler. It gives them more of an appeal on social media. When asked about the reasoning for the exercise the common answer is "well, they are generating a greater power output. They are being more explosive!" .

Does any of that matter if the client/athlete performs such exercise with horrible technique? Does the client/athlete understand how to achieve triple extension? Do they understand how to load their hips during the loading phase while maintaining their core posture? Do they understand how to swing their arms efficiently? Does their knees collapse inward during any part of the jump? Does their back curve and core cave in at all? When landing does their feet land under their hips? Is their butt back? Is their core strong? Is their chest up? How do you incorporate strength training to compliment a plyometric program? .

Or is the client just doing well because after 25 horrible attempts they somewhat made it on the box? So now we can pat ourselves on the back and tell ourselves that we are making that client/athlete more powerful! .

Understand the importance of the training and how it fully works before have someone perform an exercise or implementing it into their program. Start with the basics. My athletes are for the most part all next level athletes and we constantly practice the specifics of plyometric/jump training. We focus on the particulars. The attention to detail will be the difference. Do not just do something for SOCIAL MEDIA!! .

It is always a blessing when I am given the opportunity to raise awareness about Testicular Cancer and I have the amazing @seankimerling foundation and @pix11news to thank today for such opportunity. Testicular Cancer is a very curable cancer found in men 15-45 is detected early. Like most other deadly diseases early detection is key. This is the type of cancer that may affect you no matter how healthy you feel. I was diagnosed four years ago and early detection prevented me from extensive treatment and saved my life. Thank you again to Sean Kimerling foundation and WPIX 11 for all of your support the past four years. Guys don't be embarrassed or negligent to get yourself checked! .

================================= In order to create something great you must have a vision. You must be able and willing to put in the sweat equity, the time, and to sacrifice to follow your dream. I can still remember standing in @teamtransformfitness with my father before I had a team or partners telling him that this is where I am going to grow this business and brand. I certainly had fears and apprehensions but with my parents and family support I knew I had to take the chance. I remember my father telling me "it's not going to be big enough!" He didn't mean this in an unsupportive way but instead had all the confidence in the world in me that I can make it bigger than these 5000 Square feet. We spent the summer in the blazing heat painting, sweeping, cleaning, and preparing my new home. Soon after a great partnership with @frank_dag and @spoyld1 was formed and our team began to get pieced together. Now by the grace of god and all of hard work @teamtransformfitness has become one of the best training facilities in Westchester! ============================
My advice to anyone is not just simply follow your dreams but be willing to put the true work into something that makes a great. You have to be willing to sacrifice time and dedicate yourself truly day in and day out our after hour to make your vision a reality. Thank you for all who helped along the way.
