We’re humbled to announce that with your generous help, we were able to raise $800 to donate towards @raicestexas. Our hope is that this will aid in the reunification of families at the border. We are so grateful for all of you! Thank you for making a difference.

Do you have a child who loves all things space? Know a student who wants to be an astronaut? Use the summer break to train like an astronaut!
For a simple #braverysummer activity, set up a few “training stations” throughout the house or yard that kids can rotate through — the stations will help them develop their astronaut skills and start them towards becoming an honorary astronaut!
Here are a few station ideas:
1. Have them practice balance by catching and throwing a ball while standing on one foot.
2. Have a puzzle out that they can put together with gloves on to build dexterity.
3. Practice survival skills by building a fort using only what’s in a room.
4. Have them practice strength and endurance with pushups, jumping jacks and squats.
At the end of their training session, have them refuel with a healthy snack (like the rocket kabobs and cheese stars in issue 2). This is a fun, easy activity that involves hardly any planning and aids in helping that young imagination blast off.
You can find this astronaut training activity and more in the Mae Jamison issue, available on our site.

We turn in issue 4 to the printer this week! Time for back cover color ways. The Temple Grandin issue is full of primary colors with a modern twist. Which one is your favorite?

Take Bravery with you on your adventures this weekend!
Our embroidered patches designed by @betsypetersen have an iron-on backing and are perfect for adding to backpacks, jean jackets and bags as a reminder to be your own kind of brave. Check them out in our shop!

Happy Friday! To kick off your weekend, here’s a little sneak peek of the Temple Grandin stories illustrated by the talented @adelinaillustration. We can’t wait to show you the rest—they are beautiful!
We have an exciting announcement. We are beyond honored to announce that Dr. Temple Grandin HERSELF agreed to let us interview her for issue 4 and is contributing to her upcoming issue of Bravery!!!!
We were able to talk to her on the phone last week and she will have two featured interview spreads filled with her amazing thoughts and advice. Most of the women we have featured in Bravery have still been alive, but Dr. Grandin is the only person we have been able to connect with and have them contribute. To say we are excited is a huge understatement — this is big stuff! August can’t come soon enough 🐄
If you could talk to anyone (a role model, a historic figure, etc) on the phone, who would it be?

At Bravery, our motto is “Be Your Own Kind of Brave”. To us, that means that bravery looks different for everyone. It can be big or small. It can look like raising money for a cause, taking steps toward a dream, or standing up to a bully. In issue 3, we wanted to highlight a kid who showed every day bravery just by being herself.

Meet our awesome brave kid feature from issue 3. She is honest, outgoing, and loves to make new friends. She is always up for trying new things and is an advocate for herself and others. She loves to get up in front of an audience and perform, loves to sing, and is a great writer. Most of all, she is confident. Like Frida, she loves herself exactly the way she is. She dreams of being an actress someday and wants to make a difference in the world for people with limb differences like herself.
We are so inspired by her interview. Have you read it yet? She is her own kind of brave every day, and we cant wait to see where it takes her. Head over to @thislittlemiggy to learn more about her and her awesome family.

Summer continues, and so does our #braverysummer!
As moms, we love meaningful activities that help lessen the amount of screen time our kids have during the summer. If you need something else to do outside besides water activities, go on a nature walk!
Use the list in Issue 1 of Bravery or make your own list of things to look for. Sticks shaped like letters, animal tracks, colorful leaves, and interesting rocks are just a few ideas. Grab a bag, a nature journal, and some binoculars (maybe the ones you made from the Jane issue!), and go exploring. Like Jane Goodall, have your kids practice observing the things around you, take notes in their nature journal, and have them draw their observations.
Check out our nature walk adventure in our stories — we made it as far as our front yard 😉

Bravery Mag may feature brave women, but that doesn’t mean it’s just for girls—it’s for boys too! We strive to create interesting content for both boys and girls in each issue.
We’d love to hear from you parents and teachers of boys—how do they like Bravery Mag? Do you think it’s worthwhile for boys to learn about strong female role models? Chime in below!
We’d love to see your boys reading Bravery. Tag us in your photos so we can see!

We’re working our tails off getting issue 4 ready to send to print, but we couldn’t wait to show you a quick sneak peek of a process shot by the talented @monicagarwood. We’re not gonna say this is our cover, but we’re not gonna say it’s NOT 🙈😉

“One thing this mama loves is intentional tools and @bravery_mag is completely this for me! Thank you for adding to our home educationally and creatively.”
Sweetest words and picture from @houseofhiltons. The Jane issue is all sold out, but we couldn’t help but share this fun backyard nature walk moment. Hope your weekend is full of intentional fun! 🐒

Happy Birthday to one of our favorite brave women, Frida Kahlo. We’re continually inspired by Frida, her resilience, her art, and her ability to make the most of her situations. To celebrate we’re offering 20% off single Frida issues today. No code necessary. Happy birthday Frida!
