Hiking...Bogota style! Yeah, I'm really behind on photos. At the moment, I'm waiting for Nicole outside the hot springs in Banff, Canada. The last week has been chaotic. After flying home the morning after these photos were taken, I had two days in Alaska to pack up my life (really I was just cheering Nicole on), and now we've been on the road for 3 days. Our plan is to stay in Banff for a couple days as a sort of breather, and then finish the last leg of our move. I'll post some photos tomorrow.
Now, hiking in Colombia... Of course it's not the same as hiking in Alaska, why would it be? There's no use in comparing, so I'll just highlight some things I think are great. First, there are tons of people out. Whether they are exercising, or doing it as a pilgrimage to the Catholic Church at the top, I'm not sure. The trail was cobble stone the whole way, and there were huts along the trail selling everything from beer to rosaries to full meals. The top of the trail was the subject of another post so I won't go into detail, but there are restaurants, a tourist market, and an active church on the 10,000 ft peak.
