This landing is very much a work in progress for me, and I fully admit I rarely practice it (that needs to change!) With my stretchy #infinitystrap and on a good day, this landing is possible!
.
I was given a great tip by my friend @smashletics who rocks this transition. She said I was psyching myself out, and I just need to work on "psyching myself IN"! πŸ’« How many things could you do if you just believed in yourself? Yoga is just as much a mental game as a physical one. Sometimes, our body will only deliver if our mind is focused and confident.

Tips for crow landing from handstand:
.
πŸ’‘ Keep your feet engaged and toes pointed and squeezed toward your behind as you come to tuck. Legs come slightly apart as you lower into crow, so that they can land on your upper arms. Think thighs to chest!!!! Bend arms slowly when you feel close to your lowest tuck position. You'll need to lean forward a bit as you bend arms. I always forget the lean πŸ˜‘

πŸ’‘Strap should go just above elbows ( Do a few test arm bends to make sure the strap is giving you the resistance you need. Reposition as needed).

Gaze forward of where you normally look in handstand!! Where is your gaze in crow? You got it - look there! Where you gaze is where you go!
.
πŸ’‘ Don't lose it at the end! Give everything a fully committed squeeze as you land and keep puffing upper back (cat back) lock in that mula bandha! Don't let feet flop down - try to keep them pointed and in crow form or they will drag you down to the mat at the end.

Today things get kinda real! πŸ‘ŠπŸ»πŸ˜ŽπŸ’ͺ Both straight and tuck can be challenging just by themselves, and putting them together can be a big test of your strength!
.
.
My main tips for handstanders are:
.
πŸ’‘Reserve strength and get into your handstand in the easiest way possible (I kicked in!)
.
πŸ’‘Cues for straight up handstand: knit ribs in. Engage core and suck it all up and in! Push floor away. Don't sink in shoulders! Keep shoulder girdle strong. Squeeze everything from thighs to toes to create that nice line. Point toes/engage feet. I sometimes imagine myself in a little tube that I have to stay super straight to fit into 🀣
.
πŸ’‘ Cues to move to tuck: if you are new to tuck, maybe just bring feet to your bottom first and don't try to tuck too deep.
.
πŸ’‘To tuck deeper: you will need to shift weight forward (shoulders come past wrists a bit) to offset the heaviness of your legs. Keep your shoulders very strong- keep pushing floor away! SUCK in lower belly to create space for the tuck.
.

Slide β¬… To see a sped up video of jumping in (I feel like my straddle is more even when I jump in! πŸ€”) and some reps of this movement. So much easier when I'm not talking! πŸ˜‚ This is such a pretty and fun one - let's try it!

My main tips for handstanders are:

πŸ’‘Find your most stable straddle before you attempt to move to diamond. No worries if hips are uneven - mine are! But...I find that the more reps of this I do, the more even they get! Bonus!
.
πŸ’‘Keep your base and hips extremely stable, and only move your legs from the knees down to come into Diamond. Bring toes to touch. Slowly come back to straddle by moving only the legs. Keep everything else stacked, engaged, and stable. Feel free to bring entire feet together if that foot shape feels better for you. For me touching just my toes together is easier.

πŸ’‘Find balance again in straddle before starting next rep! Move slowly, and breathe!

Busy busy Wednesday, but knocked out a few #dropback variations for my #dropbackcrew ❀ all sped up times two!

I worked a #onehandeddropback and then tried a drop with hands in prayer, and raised overhead. Then I added some weak sauce double leg kicks from the mat... still kind of scary but I got higher than the last time I tried it haha!
.

It's finally time to kick things off!! I'll be your handstand host! πŸ™‹πŸΌ Volume up for my instructions. πŸ”Š I will talk you through the movement in my videos each day, but I'll always list tips in the caption, too! I'm going to keep it real time, but feel free to speed your videos if you want!

Today we will switch from one side to the other in stag. (I have my little sidekick with me today - we are both wearing leggings from one of our sponsors @aquaburns πŸ’š)

My main tips for handstanders are:

Start on your stronger side. Constantly adjust your balance by using the heels of your hands and fingertips. Keep your base stable and try to only move your legs. Pivot legs around stable hips. Keep feet engaged. Breathe evenly! Move slowly!
.
One side will likely feel much different than the other, and that is okay!
.

First slide is a fledgling attempt at "purposeful" leg movement in a shifted gaze handstand. It was tough - tried to just bend each leg separately in #straddlehandstand and only managed each leg once! But I think if I'd been less tired I could have done more πŸ€” Maybe next time!
.
And second slide is my longest #shiftedgazehandstand hold ever! (I think?! 🀣) I know I cut off my back foot but I promise I wasn't touching anything πŸ˜‡ I highly recommend this leg shape for long hold in a relaxed gaze handstand! The legs act like counterweights and you can microadjust very easily. Give it a go πŸŽ‰

I have been challengeless for a little while now, and I couldn't resist joining this awesome group of ladies! Not sure if I will be able to complete the whole challenge, but I will do my best. I'm also going to try to pose with my old bowling ball each time so that could get interesting! πŸ€“πŸ€”πŸŽ³ We are supposed to be showing what makes us unique - and for me, I feel like it's my variety of passions and interests. I don't mind that bowling and yoga don't really "go together"...I like being kinda quirky 😊
.

So, instead of choosing a favorite bend, I'm going with one that pushes me to my limit. Backbends are a big work in progress for me!
.
I give you my #kapotasana 😱
The first slide is a prep posture #kapotasanab and I'm using my ball as a prop for added lift.
.
I'm not using anything to keep it from rolling away from me here....so that was a bit stressful! But... it distracted me from the stress of this deep bend. If there is a next time, I will consider putting a stopper in front of the ball so I can get some counter-pressure out of it! Instead of just trying to keep it with me 🀣 I ended up with my hands much further away than originally intended!

Second slide is my attempt at full kapo #pigeonpose and I feel like I could use a bigger bowling ball cause this one didn't help me at all πŸ˜†
.

First clip is trying to kick in immediately to a gaze shift straight handstand. Never tried this before, and it wasn't as scary as I thought! Going to start working this more.

Next couple of clips are just kicking in and trying to go immediately into a drop to chaturanga. Kinda fun!

Next is jumping into #straddlehandstand which is a major work in progress for me. I only nail it like one time out of 10 if I'm lucky. Need to work these more!

Then I worked weak side #puppypress 😣🐢 Feeling closer this week from the mat! Second try was from a block and I got all the way up but form was yuck.
