My goal leading into this week, after feeling like I had a pretty average week of training and diet is to just let it go and move on. Sometimes us girls have a hard time training through ‘that time of month. No point training when you can’t put pressure on your stomach or have uncontrollable cramping. I’m human and I actually listened to my body this time which it seemed to appreciate. And ultimately a week of self care in the grand scheme of training gains is nothing. It’s just my mind that needs convincing sometimes.

Holding on to the worries I have about ‘going backwards’ with my progress after having a more relaxed approach for a week and carrying it through to this week will only interfere with what I might be able to achieve and in all reality demotivate me.
.
So here we go, figuratively speaking I’ve throw it in the f*ck it buck it. Shit happens; and it’s all the more reason to smash out this week and redeem myself in my own eyes. Back feeling 100% apart from mega DOMs in my calves and quads 😂 but ready to take on the week with a positive frame of mind #mindsetiseverything .

Jake and I are making a point of spending proper quality time together every week because it started feeling like we are only seeing each other in passing and life was getting too busy.

We also have started bringing different topic discussions to the table like politics, environmental issues, body building topics ect and expanding on those. Luckily it never ends up with heated debates or food fights (yet) - but it keeps things interesting and keeps the mind expanding. Gossip and drama doesn’t interest me. Give me a meaningful conversation and discussions about the bigger picture and day

Side note - Last night we went to @palacemount. I got the vege burger and it is hands down one of the best burgers I have EVER had! An easy 10/10. I’ll be back...

Excuse the mid rep facials bbuuttttt I made it into the powerlifting board!!

I went into the gym today with a goal of getting on the female powerlifting board at @flexfitnessmount which no girls have made it onto yet. You have to get a 225kg total across bench, deadlift and squats. I had a pretty average week of training so felt like I needed to achieve something. I managed to get a 100kg squat assisted for 3 (90kg unassisted for 5), worked up to a 110kg dead lift and then some how got 2 reps of 55kg bench! This may not be a lot for some but I’m bloody stoked because these were all New personal best for me and I don’t usually squat or bench.

So I got myself a total of 255kgs and made it on that board!! I also trained glutes and hammies at the same time as well, so throw some thrusters, glute kick backs, abductor, stiff legs and Nordic curls in and my legs are fried 😅 in a good way though. Definitely made up for an average week with of training.

Talk about a throw back. This was me before I started competing. I was training myself, using programs I found on bodybuilding websites from bikini competitors I aspired to look like. I can remember having to google pretty much every exercise on the plans and print out photos of someone executing them so I knew what I was meant to be doing. I had no idea that carbs were in fact not the devil, loved pushing myself through long distance running (which I am currently missing) and didn’t know how to train glutes or activate them.

It’s funny looking back at photos like this, because I can remember constantly feeling like I was too big and needed to loose weight. Wish I had been more thankful for the body I was in back then, that’s for sure. A huge focus of mine is to get back to a maintainable, comfortable weight after my show and stick to my goal of no rebounding. Get back into my distance running and trail runs and to actually start wearing colour in the gym again - not black on black on black all the time 🤦🏼‍♀️😂 #briningbackbonnie

That’s one of the many reasons I love this sport - the effort YOU put in will show in the results put out. It’s not a team sport when it comes to effort. If you cheat on your diet, if you skip a cardio session, go easy at the gym or don’t complete all your sets then that’s on you. And you can guarantee there will be someone else out there sticking 110% to plan and out working you at the gym. It’s a 24/7 sport, it’s a daily focus on health, fitness, nutrients and fuel. And I love it. I love slowly seeing the changes you can make in your physique by manipulating your exercises, expenditure, calories and different nutrients. It’s all up to you how hard you want to push, the results you want to see and ultimately how your final package comes together. No one is making you do it, which is what I tell myself on the tough days. This is my choice, my goals, my body, my effort. I’m doing this for me. To make myself proud and to prove to myself I can turn this year around. And I’m not ready to slow down yet #mondaymotivation

After watching the @wff_international show last night and seeing all the amazing Pro and Amateur sports models on stage the motivation levels have peaked even more. While my goal since last year was to qualify and compete at the Universe show, life had other plans for me. But my sights are firmly set on qualifying and competing at the Universe show next year. I already have my shows picked out, back up options sorted, money to invest into it sitting there waiting and the mindset in the right place
.
After seeing how amazing the Amateur sports models on stage are, let alone the Pros, I can see how much work I have to do to stand on the same stage and I am more than ready for the challenge!

T minus 12 weeks to try and bring my best for the @nabbawffwellington show after a horrendous year of struggles, then T minus 6 months to work on my attempt at a Universe Qualifying package!

If a challenge we set doesn’t scare us, then it probably isn’t that important to us - and these challenges I’ve set myself scare the hell out of me. So I know I’m on exactly the right path ❤️

As much as I would love for the results I crave to appear over night after eating clean for a day, the reality is that will never happen. Still sticking to my very slow cut, keeping my calories high, still including clean sauces and having protein cakes for dessert each night. Im not over doing the cardio even though I really enjoy pushing myself in that way and I’m making sure each training session I do more reps/sets or heavier weight. I want to keep the muscle density I have worked so hard to build in my off season while decreasing my body fat. And while I am still not overly comfortable with the way I look and current body composition I’m learning to embrace it and love every stage because ‘health’ and ‘long term sustainability’ is my main focus now.
.
I know my body is responding well to this because each week I am seeing small changes and I have absolutely no cravings. My metabolism is increasing because I find myself getting hungry between meals now, which I actually enjoy feeling and it is normal and ok for a person to feel
.
My mental clarity and energy levels are on the rise from maintaining and sticking to a predominantly clean and wholesome way of eating and my skin is also reaping the benefits
.
Yup getting back on track and sticking to it can be hard, you have to be in the right mindset especially when food is usually what you reach for when you feel any sort of intense emotions like happiness, grief, stress, anxiety, sadness. A lot of people comfort themselves with food, myself included. But it’s about breaking that cycle and comforting yourself in other ways - like pamper sessions, nature walks, coffee dates ect. Getting back into the self discipline mode and taking back control of your eating, training and your mindset is so empowering. Which I am passionately working on every single day
