In my past, i wouldve never gotten a boyfriend and my dad in one photo. It just wasnt gonna happen. My father would never let a guy get comfortable around him. He has three daughters and he is as overprotective as an overprotective traditional Filipino dad can get. He may smile at the men I introduced to him but he wouldn't engage in conversations. Not that he can't hold one, he just didn't want to give them that sense of security that he has accepted them into the family. So introducing yet again another guy is alqays the hardest part for me. So when I introduced Erin, I did so on my graduation day, then immediately walked away, leaving my dad stunned and leaving Erin to deal with the mess that I started 😅. But that day, i saw another part of my dad, as he engaged in multiple conversations with Erin, and joked around with him. Then there's the part where he allowed us to live together prior to being married (which I never, in a million years, thought he would allow), and telling Erin that he loves him too.
So you see, this photo means a lot. Erin was the only man who ever got through my dad's toughest layers. There are other family barriers he broke through, but that's a story for another day.
So I will leave this photo here, because though short, this is a precious time for me.
