There is an important topic many people refuse to talk about: mental health.
And we understand because talking about your mental health or your/someones mental illness can be tough, intense and sometimes frightening yet it's so important.
It's something you can't see but believe me, it's there. There are several mental illnesses that are caused by an hormonal imbalance. For exampel depression. Some people might think that the person who struggles with depression (or any other mental illness) can control it. They say "it's all in your head". But a mental illness isn't something people want, or ask for, or decide to have. It's a burden You can't control and sometimes it can be hell.
The ongoing stigma still holds a lot of people from seeking help as they fear to be judged or even abandoned by friends and/or loved ones. So this is meant as a reminder to be kind to each other and take care of each other. If you don't know what to say just listen. It's okay to be insecure. Tell them you will be there if they need you. Encourage them to get the professional help they need.
And if you are one of the strong souls affected by a mental illness: dare to seek help. There are people who can help you. There are people who love you and will be there for you even in your darkest hours! #mentalhealthawarenessmonth
