The GE9X? We're a big FAN! @GEAviation's GE9X, the engine that will power the #777X, just began certification testing.
This photo was taken during preliminary icing certification this past winter. During the trials, #GE ran more than 50 test points, accumulating 168 hours and 162 cycles. In order to be certified, engines must continue to operate in weather and under operating conditions that exceed anything they are likely to encounter in actual service (e.g., hail and ice storms, winds at nearly 100 mph, bird strikes, icing). Later this year, the #engine will fly for the first time on GE's 747-400 #flying test bed in Victorville, CA.
