I have an elderly female patient who has awful balance. Nothing on her it’s just how life goes. Lacks proprioception, vestibular, and wears glasses! She told me she wants to feel more stable with walking. I replied “ you may feel like you want stability but really you want mobility. Often times the book will tell us that this person should practice stability training. I like to bend the rules 👌. We began working on her base of support and controlling her center of mass in dynamic movements. How many times do we really just stand In place?? Umm like never 😂. I like to have these patients become super uncomfortable ! I bring them to the brink of falling in all sorts of dynamic situations. This causes fear, anxiety, and panic. We practice longer in the uncomfortable. She starts becoming used to the feeling of being out of control. She starts adapting to the principle. She begins to enjoy the thrill. Her confidence boosts, and she my friends starts to see progression ! Her body begins to recognize how to control the excessive mobility ultimately providing stability. She is now waking independently! .

So you see......... you may think you want to be stable, but really you need the opposite! You will never grow being comfortable. You will never have forward movement in a stationary position! Increase that mobility and start moving forward! The uncomfortable challenges you to thrive amongst all circumstances! It’s time to become less stable you owe it to yourself! Embrace the uncomfortable! Body of Youth 🔥

🔥 Do You have the Balance Challenge?🔥

You can try it at work, in the house, at the gym, or anywhere you please! Step on up it’s the mobility and strength challenge! It takes all of 1 min so no excuses 😉! Take one sheet of paper and fold it long ways. Place that paper standing up right next to you. With a single limb stance you have to grab the piece of paper with your mouth while not letting your unweighted foot/leg hit the ground. Then return to the upright single leg position. This will test your core, hip, ankle, and quad strength while you are required to stay flexible all at the same time! Can’t wait to see if you can match the challenge! Good thing I had my stretchy @lululemon on so I could come straight from work and knock it out! As always, throw it up on your story and let’s get you supported ☺️! Body of Youth!

✨ The cold is your strength ✨

Your breathing is vital. I focus on it regularly and you should to! Deep diaphragmatic breathing with the cold morning chill fires that nervous system to all sorts of levels ✨ . You want to stay focused but want to stay under the warm sheets ? Forget about it! We need that parasympathetic drive and we can elicit it with cold water to the face, a cold shower, or breathing practice inflating our stomachs early morning amongst the frost! .

I see you working! I see you giving it your best 😉! Your effort does not go unnoticed! Now take some time hit that nervous system and tackle today like you failed miserably yesterday. What happened yesterday was yesterday. Today has a new script......... How are you going to write it ? Body of Youth 🔥

I was working with a frail old lady yesterday on a task that has haunted her for a long time now. Getting up and down her steps was a daunting task that brought on an excess of emotions. She stood at the steps looking down ready to tackle something she hasn’t done for a very long time. The fear, anxiety, and discouragement was overtaking her. She wanted to turn back. I gave her a quick demonstration of how it should be done and said ok your up! She looked at me like I was crazy ..... maybe 😉. I removed the assistive device and held her hand. The warmth of another touch gave ease to the circumstance and she began to initiate the decent. With each step that went by she began to slowly release tension from my grasp. We finally got to the last one. She released her hand, took the last step, and looked at me with the biggest smile.... “Thank You” ☺️! .

Moral of the story is you just need to take that first step. Don’t let another day pass without starting the movement! Set aside your fears in the comments below and let’s support you every way our tribe knows how! It’s your turn.... will you take that first step ??

I tell people all the time your confidence is tool that requires sharpening. How do we continue to grow our confidence? It comes from years of preparation, eating properly, going to the gym, lifting up those around you, and failing so many times you begin to love the process. Confidence isn’t about arriving in a specific place, it’s about knowing your going to come out on top no matter the circumstance given. Confidence ✨ is about believing in yourself before others start believing in you. Confidence is not being in fear but accepting the challenge! Confidence isn’t telling yourself your confident it’s knowing it! How are you taking the steps necessary to becoming the best version of yourself ? Body of Youth 🔥

🔥 Jumpin into Monday Challenge 🔥 .

You don’t need fancy equipment to have a good workout! Short and sweet is what I call the keys to success! I challenge you for this week to switch the mindset! Give 10 min of your time and explore the world of efficiency! Jumpin into Monday challenge will test your abilities to look past the 45 min session and focus on 10 min of max effort! You have 10 min to complete 100 jump ropes, 15 snowboarder jump squats, and 20 push ups! How many sets can you get in within your 10 min time slot! Remember if you have trouble with push ups it’s okay to modify and use your knees! If you can’t jump and twist it’s okay to jump in place. Don’t let a challenge dictate your decision making! You got this !!! Post your number of sets and let’s get this party started! I got 6 sets in my 10 min session. How many sets do you got ? Body of Youth 🔥

I figured at this point in time I should share my three biggest morning routines daily. .
.
1st - Most days I am in the ocean by 545am. A cold shower can also do the trick but I usually am surfing before people wake up. Why is this so important? How can we as giving people be there for others if we haven’t taken the steps for ourselves? Every morning I make sure to be selfish. My bowl of light requires filling and for me to distribute that bowl of light throughout my work day requires some ocean therapy and solitude. Allows me to have a clear mental space for me to perform my absolute best. .

2nd - Here you think my second routine would be saying a large breakfast, but most days I don’t eat breakfast. I usually start my first meal at 1 pm. Some of you would consider it intermittent fasting but for me it’s something my body really enjoys. It allows me to be alert, focused, and ready for all challenges. So my number 2 is a large glass of water 💦. Hydration station! .

3rd - My third morning routine is I make sure my pups gets the care he deserves. We go on a long run and most days will either go to the beach or I’ll take out the bike and we will roam the big park outside my house. Everyone always wonders why he is so well trained and behaved. It really comes down to one thing. We all require movement daily and for
him it is no different 😉! .

It’s now 8:30 am and my day has started. I’m off to work with all things in alignment. You can see how productive a morning can be when you rise with the sun. I encourage others to do the same as it yields great benefits! Just remember this journey is all about Finding Your BALANCE ✨

🔥 Morning stretch? 🔥

One thing I find is so beneficial is stretching right when I get out of a hot shower! Why ? The heat allows the tissue to relax which then becomes more pliable for long lasting flexibility. If your trying to accomplish a deeper stretch and a little longer but just can’t get there! Try exposing your tissue to a little heat before your next stretching routine. You will see and feel the benefits! Body of Youth 💥

Your body will thank you when you provide the proper stretching and strengthening necessary to stay optimal. Powerlifters, weekend warriors, yogis, HITT trainers, athletes, elderly, pediatrics, can all benefit from keeping that length tension relationship. I saw a lady for the first time today for physical therapy. Just diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. She was a fitness competitor and in one month could barely walk..... Crying heavy tears as she looked at me with nothing but a wheelchair and lost hope. She put everything into her physical appearance and to have minimal motor function on her left side was overtaking her. She cried as I gave her tissues to wipe away the pain she was feeling. She looked at me with minimal eye shadow left for an answer to her problem. I turned to her and said one phrase... “ We can cry about our circumstance thats ok. We can let out all the pain we are feeling, but with this moment forward I want you to promise me one thing.” She looked at me in confusion with nothing but lost hope and said, “What!” I replied, “Do not let your diagnosis define you, instead let’s work so we can define it”......... She stood a little taller after that visit and was ready to redirect the ship. No matter what circumstance you are given there is someone who would love the position you are in. It’s ok to be sad through acceptance. However, it’s how you respond to the challenge that defines your legacy! Body of Youth 🔥
