Scythe probably has one of the busiest boards in terms of components, overall design and color scheme. I love it for the visual shock factor but I sometimes despise it when I end up still scratching my head after one, two, three sweeps across the board, attempting to digest the scene and failing. 😬
This is my fourth playthrough (not counting the solo run I did on Tabletopia) and I still absolutely love it. I think I finally have a good grasp of the different strategies you can take to try to end up as the richest clan in Europa. This game usually starts slow thanks to the gazillion options you have every turn, but as soon as you find your rhythm, it just goes bam, bam, bam, and the 6th star is on the board triggering end game! Combat is minimal but it's super fun to see the clash of clans and hear the verbal assaults thrown across the table as it really does hurt when you are forced to retreat from a territory you once owned, and be robbed of your hard earned resources on top of that. I can't recommend this game enough! 😘😘
Amazing components, gorgeous artwork, flawless link between game mechanics and theme, a refreshing take on worker placement/economic engine game that is fun, thinky and seriously very far from boring!!! Try it already if you have not.
