We are not the heroes in this story. You can take one guess at WHO is. But we are 4 servants simply coming together to do what we are felt called to do.
Many many hands went into orchestrating a connection that brought a beautiful evening into play for raising funds for Haiti. (Thank you Lauri, Becky, Nicole, Frank!) But the Mighty Orchestrator is the One who started this all.
When I first heard Megan's story, l was impressed. When l read her book, l was blown away! If you've ever been on a mission trip, so many things will resonate with you. If you haven't, your eyes will be opened to a whole new world you may have never thought existed.
The fact is... Kyle & I are the lucky ones. God planted us in Haiti into a vision that was already into motion. We were the ones who got the privilege of serving with fantastic partners like @pittsburghkidsfoundation and @water_mission. We couldn't do this alone and we will never try to.
So when we were approached to connect with @respirehaiti , an organization 7 hours away (drive time) in Haiti, we said YES! We are all working toward a common goal; to care for, educate and empower the youth of Haiti. Why wouldn't we want to attack our mission from both ends of the island!? When I read Megan's book, Miracle on VooDoo Mountain, I couldn't help but instantly feel inspired. Here she is at 24 years old as a single young lady, giving up everything to move to Haiti and start a school. I thought, "I am not doing enough, should I move to Haiti?" But the more I thought about it, we all have our own parts of the story. Our own ways to help. We need ALL moving parts to make an IMPACT. Some work with their hands, some donate their money, some organize all the in-between. We need all parts of the clock to make it tick.
We were so thrilled to have met Megan and Josh, (while they brought their 4 kiddos to the US for the first time) and get to host a dinner honoring Haiti. It was a wonderful event. Photos will be up on @braceforimpact46 FB soon.
Megan & Josh - thank you for all you do and for inspiring other to make an #impact!
