"The first in the triptych, First Movement, is from a meditation on the way a ‘seed thought’ multiplies at nano speed to quickly become a demand for action of the body. The third image, Letting Go, is a reflection on the most difficult thing we can do - to drop a whole stack of unbalanced thoughts that lead to unwanted actions."

Today is the last day of our Instagram takeover by @danijelakrha of @beautifulbizarremagazine! Thanks for sharing a few of your art loves Danijela. 💙 Danijela’s final piece is by Bluethumb artist Lucy Lucy (@lucylucyone).
_
“I found Lucy Lucy on Bluethumb and was instantly intrigued with her strong female figures whose identities are masked by intriguing patterns. Lucy Lucy swaps between large-scale public murals, tribal ornaments, textiles and gallery work.“
_
Lucy Lucy’s bio reads: "Her paintings capture the evolving folklore of the feminine, exploring the diversity and boundaries of heritage. Whether a sovereign queen, a mystic sorceress, a youthful muse, or a charismatic lady, they all share in the art and privilege of being a woman. More recently, Lucy has been exploring the concepts of presence and perception through imaginary masks enfolding women portraits. The concealing veneers echo with the idea that rarely oneself is entirely present or true."
_
On a final note from Danijela: “I would like to thank Bluethumb for the opportunity to share some of my favourite Australian creatives with you, and for allowing me to tell you a little about my fabulous Australian based contemporary art magazine – Beautiful Bizarre Magazine. I hope you will join the Beautiful Bizarre Magazine tribe of over 850,000 enthusiasts, artists, collectors and gallerists across our extensive social media network, and of course check out our magazine. Print subscriptions are available via www.beautifulbizarre.net/shop. I also hope very much to see many of you enter the Beautiful Bizarre Magazine Art Prize! Quick sticks though, entries close midnight 30 June AEDT."

Today is the 6th day of our Instagram takeover by @danijelakrha from @beautifulbizarremagazine! Today she shares work by Pip & Pop (@pipnpop): .
.
“Inspiring Western Australian artist Tanya, aka Pip & Pop, is featured in the current issue of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine. I first saw her work at the NGA and was struck by the sensory nature of her work. I really wanted to reach out, to touch and sniff this ecstatic sugar coated universe of colour explosions!"
.
Excerpt from the current issue of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine: "There is a moment, during childhood, when the most divine thought in the world is that of a real life candyland. Luminous pink wispy swirls of cotton candy, melted fudge fountains, whipped cream mountains dusted with a sucrose glow; these are the dreams of childhood. The feelings of holy exaltation arise in any child at the prospect of gobbling down sticky sweets, and our history is full of folklore that contemplate this very human inclination: to overfill, to engage in absolute excess. Children have not yet completely learned their lessons in the dangers of overindulgence, but they will soon enough. The hard swelling of an engorged belly, the raw sugar stung tongue and lilting waves of nausea brought on by gorging on cake and candies; all of these just waiting under the facade of shimmering sugar." Day 5 of our takeover from @danijelakrha of @beautifulbizarremagazine. Danijela writes:
.
"I had the pleasure of working with Bluethumb artist Kim Leutwyler (@carlosbob) in Issue 20 of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine. Her current work takes its form in paintings dealing with images of beauty, gender and queer identity. You can feel her passion for her community and for the strength of women through the bold use of abstraction and colour, which creates an evocative background for her female figures as they emerge in a position of strength.”
.
An excerpt from the issue reads: "It is impossible to discuss the art of Kim Leutwyler without a deeper understanding of how her strong sense of self-identity as a feminist and member of the LGBTIQ community has shaped her life, her world-view, and the social commentary intrinsic to every piece she completes. Still in her early 30’s Kim has garnered a list of accolades that would be the envy of most artists across their entire career, including being a two-time finalist in Australia’s most prestigious art competition, the Archibald Prize for portraiture.

Today is day 4 of our Instagram takeover by @danijelakrha of @beautifulbizarremagazine. She writes:
.
“I was honoured to work with Australian photographer Tamara Dean (@tamaradean) in Issue 13 of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine. One feels like we are glimpsing a deeply intimate, raw moment through Tamara's work. It evokes a sense of tenderness at the diversity and fragility of the human race.” .
.
An excerpt from the issue reads: "A full moon makes a cameo across several works. Not planned or orchestrated, it touches on the instinctual, the primal and the unadulterated, lighting each landscape with something irreverently out of our reach. It’s a liquid wilderness where the most fertile of greens come to life under bruised skies. The humans are the sharpest points in each gaping landscape; dwarfed by their surroundings their delicacy is tangible. Their vulnerability brings them into a tender focus under the lens of Australian Photographer, Tamara Dean. And yet somehow, amongst the Waterhouse romance, that pre-Raphaelite roar of lushness, and a wild that bursts well beyond the frame, they don’t seem too out of place, too alien. “Wilderness represents eternity for me. A shared sense of time between our ancestors and our future. It is a space that we can imagine ourselves, as primitive beings and yet still find a place in the now. An ancient space which we can revisit, to remember where we came from and reflect on where we are going. It is as though time becomes both immediate and infinite when I place myself in the wilderness.” [Words by Kim Triebsee] .

It’s day 3 of our takeover by @danijelakrha of @beautifulbizarremagazine! Today she celebrates the work of Ben Howe (@benhoweart):
.
“Bluethumb artist Ben Howe has explored the nature of consciousness, personal history and the incongruities of memory through his artwork over the last couple of years, which has taken him to England, Germany, China, the USA and the pages of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine's Issue 20.”
.
An excerpt from the issue reads: "The human experience is based in the realm of perception, but impacted with the inherited traumas and gifts of the past. Each person makes their way through the pathways of life, turmoil and happiness dotting the landscape of a deeply personal, perspective based reality… There are many theories of reality that float in and out of the spheres of philosophy and science, but for Ben it’s the reality that may not be exposed that is of interest. “I’ve become obsessed with the reality that sits just out of view, beyond our everyday field of perception...it also seems that I’ve been channeling these intangible thoughts since the beginning: exploring the penumbra, that fuzzy place between light and shadow, reality and imagination.” So while Ben’s paintings may look like an abstraction, or a surrealist morphing of the tangible, physical world, he is also delving into the subconscious and bringing it to life." Day 2 of our Instagram takeover by @danijelakrha of @beautifulbizarremagazine - Danijela shares the work of Australian pop surrealism artist Marie Larkin (@marielarkin_ ), who she is working alongside as a juror for the inaugural Beautiful Bizarre Magazine Art Prize.
.
“I am honoured to be working alongside Marie Larkin as a Juror for the inaugural Beautiful Bizarre Magazine Art Prize. Marie’s work embodies an undeniably feminine oeuvre, meticulous execution and attention to detail. Her richly coloured, painted and drawn alternate worlds, are inhabited by her signature women who imbue her works with meaning, narrative and emotional content. In Marie’s works, her stylised female figures have become an agent for exploring notions of the feminine and what she feels it means to be a contemporary woman, diverse in nature and circumstance. She paints women of strength and character, who can at times be fantastical and otherworldly and whose undeniable feminine force has become her trademark. Her work often depicts a goddess archetype, a universal entity, rather than an individual figure. This goddess archetype draws attention to the powerful, timeless and enduring quality that women possess as a creative and nurturing force. Lately, the goddess has become armour clad, and Marie uses this as a metaphor for knowing, strength, resilience and experience." .

Day 1 of our Instagram takeover by Danijela Krha Purssey of @beautifulbizarremagazine!
-
She writes: “I had the pleasure of working with Victorian artist Jeremy Geddes (@jeremyispainting) for issue 14 of Beautiful Bizarre Magazine. His work evokes the potential of the human race to both create and destroy in our quest for progress. As we reach for the stars we must make a choice about the values and ethics we wish to upload as a species.”
-
An except from the issue reads: "There is dynamic action suspended in the works of Australian painter Jeremy Geddes. Brickwork exploding into rubble, a body flying through a window, an astronaut apprehended in mid fall … it is curious then that there is such a sense of peace, of quietude, when looking at his art. For that suspension is so well realised, precise to the finest detail, that we can never apprehend movement starting again. The contorted figures now caught in a flaw in time, all sound forever muted. Such is the meticulous nature of Jeremy’s work that the alien becomes real, a ball of naked figures drawn to some invisible black hole in their midst does not seem impossible, the unblemished skin of slender girls who have burst inward through windows or outward through walls does not surprise. The recurring theme of the astronaut in a deserted urban landscape brings that otherworldliness into sharp focus, the differences in scale like Gulliver in Lilliput, but always alone in that barren peaceful landscape."
