Bitter Phew  Sydney craft beer bar, sporting one of Australia's largest selections of craft beer 🍻👌🏼 Australia's #1 Beer Venue of 2017 - Beer & Brewer Magazine

Our taplist changes constantly. But most days of the week you can find one beer firmly holding its own on tap number 3. Today, we’re going to explain why we love @ekimbrewingco and their After Battle Pale Ale so bloody much.
.
Ekim Brewing Co only make beers that are unfiltered and unpasteurised. After Battle is definitely a great example of that, brewed in small batches up in the northern Sydney suburb of Mount Ku-ring-gai.
.
Packing a fresh hop-punch with a pronounced citrus and passionfruit aromas, head-brewer Mike has designed After Battle to be enjoyed after a hard days work.
.
And with our regular Monday special where we offer 425ml beers at 330ml prices - it’s tasting even better today. Go on, treat yourself tonight.

Good advice.

This weekend, we’re bringing @boatrockerbrew to Bitter Phew for a special Sydney edition of Ramjet Day.
.
Boatrocker's Ramjet 2018 is a very big and intensely complex beer. You can expect luscious dark chocolate flavours, with a velvety vanilla mouthfeel that is an absolute delight.
.
Ramjet will be joined by a whole host of other beers from Boatrocker that highlight their creativity and brewing skill.
.
Take a peek at what we'll be offering this August 18 on the taplist below.

Ya gurrrl @maddiepn is back behind the Bitter Phew bar tonight. 🍻😍
.
She’s pretty excited to be cracking open some fresh tins of the @eviltwinbrewing ‘I Always Felt Closer to IPAs Than I Did People’.
.
Double dry hopped with Galaxy, Citra, Simcoe and Falconers Flight hops - you can expect fresh flavours of pineapple, mango and citrus. It’s bloody delicious.

If you did the #city2surf yesterday, you probably would have loved a few of these refreshing tinnies after you crossed the finish line. .
Made by Baltimore’s @stillwater_artisanal, their Extra Dry Saison has been brewed with Sake Rice and dry-hopped with Citra, Hallertau Blanc and Sterling; it’s dry and citrusy and very smashable.
.
(Also it’s Monday: so that means we’re doing 330ml prices on all our 425ml tap beers - swing by after work and treat yourself!)

When California’s @brueryterreux and the Texan @jesterkingbrewery get together to make a beer, you know it’s going to be pretty damn special. When a keg of it finds itself in your local small bar in Sydney, you know you can’t miss out on trying it!
.
Bouffon is a mixed-culture fermentation spiced sour wit-ale flavoured with bitter orange peel and coriander that has been aged in oak foeders.
.
This is a light and bright beer. Expect flavours of banana and pear, and aromas of white pepper and lemon.
.
Simply put, it’s stunning. 👌🏼

We want to take you to California this weekend.
.
It’s probably the one place in the world most responsible for influencing Australian beer drinking habits during the last 5 years.
.
We’re paying respect to some of the leaders in the Californian craft beer scene with one big and tasty tap showcase this weekend.
.

Earlier this year, our bar manager Dylan visited Bridge Road Brewers in Beechworth with former Bitter Phew tap-tickler Brayden, and mates Tim and Jarrod, for their annual Hop Harvest festival.
.
Fast-forward to today, and we’ve brought all four of Bridge Road’s all-Australian Single Hop IPA’s to Bitter Phew for you to experience!
.
Galaxy is probably Australia’s most famous hop. In this SHIPA, Galaxy is immediately identifiable with big-boi aromas of passionfruit and peach, with fresh flavours of clean citrus.
.
The Enigma hop contributes a very different flavour to Galaxy. In this IPA you’ll get gentle floral aromas with a slight earthiness. This beer has a full flavour with a persistent bitterness that embraces your palate.
.
Vic Secret is a Bridge Road favourite (they’ve been using it since 2011, when it was still ‘in development’). You can expect an IPA with strong ripe fruit aromas and a solid pine-like finish.
.
Last of all is Ella, a sister-hop variety to Galaxy. In this IPA, the Bridge Road Brewers have added whole hop flowers to the kettle and the conditioning tank to fully express Ella’s tropical fruit and grapefruit flavours.

We’ve been setting up the bar ready for another big week.
.
But before we open up for the night, we thought we’d treat ourselves to a cheeky sample of the @hawkersbeer/@cruxfermentationproject Aquavit Barrel Aged Wheatwine.
.
Brewed last year when Larry Sidor from Oregon’s Crux was visiting Melbourne, this big beer has been ageing in Norwegian Aquavit barrels up until its release this winter. It tastes like a booze-soaked Christmas cake, with aromas of marzipan, toffee and spice.
.
Enjoy this beer from 5pm tonight - and make the most of our usual Monday special, 425ml beers at the 330ml price.

Every day, we get to pour incredible beers.
.
But sometimes we are #blessed with the chance to pour absolutely outstanding beers that are so perfectly beautiful we just have to pinch ourselves at how lucky we are to do this job.
.
Today, we’ve tapped three Saison’s from Vermont’s @hillfarmstead Brewery. They have been awarded Best Brewery in the World by @ratebeer five times, and once you have a schooner it’s obvious why.
.
Treat yourself, you’re worth it.

It’s #IPAday, so it only seemed appropriate that we got up on our roof to take an epic photo of one of our current favourite beers.
.
The VirtuALE IPA from California’s innovative @stonebrewing is a 7.7% West Coast IPA.
.
This beer uses a brand new hop extracting technology called Incognito to seperate the lupulin from Citra and Mosaic hops, to create a beer that is danker than anything you’ve experienced before.

Vermont's @hillfarmstead Brewery make beer inspired by over 220 years of family history.
.
They were officially launched in 2010 by head-brewer Shaun Hill, and went on to be name 'Best Brewery in the World' by the RateBeer.com community in 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, and 2017.
.
We've been trying to get out hands on kegs from Hill Farmstead since we first opened. We're very excited to be working with our mates @fleetwingsdistribution as well as good dudes @beermash in Melbourne, to help launch Hill Farmstead in Australia on August the 3rd!
.
This first shipment will showcase beers from their Farmstead Ancestral series. Inspired by their Vermont family history, these three beers have been brewed in honour of figures that had established the land that the brewery is found on today.
