It's #FredArtistFriday and this week we're excited to highlight Roberto Cañedo. Roberto studied at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi and served in the United States Air Force. He currently has work being shown in a self portrait exhibition in Chicago. "Lately, I have focused on non-objective, and purely abstracted forms that are built up with a thick application of my own mix of plaster, glue, and gesso. The shapes that form are indicative of stuff we see in nature, or in own minds eye. Color is very important because it resonates with different moods; (yellow happy, blue spiritual, red passion), etc. I love the human form, don’t get me wrong; but we aren’t the center of the universe, and therefore, a more infinite approach to making ART, is my aim. So, I hope to show how these two are integrated into one pictorial image; at times clearly, and at other times, very subtle. All I want to do is show the beauty and the beast in the everyday."
