In October 2012, Kelly Friel (@kelfriel)🇬🇧 walked into a CrossFit box for the first time, at age 34.
The next summer she was competing at the Meridian Regional, but with little more than six months of experience in @CrossFit and no prior sporting background, she was held back by the minimum work requirement on the muscle-ups. She qualified and competed again in 2014 but has since battled various setbacks.
This is her first year back, at 40 years of age.
She believes that making changes to her nutrition—she "simply wasn't eating enough"—and recently giving up her job of 16 years as a mortgage adviser has allowed her to focus on her health, her kids and her CrossFit box.
But Friel is treating this Regional as a warm-up, as she proudly announced that she will be competing at the Games this year in the Masters Women 40-44 Division. Today, she is representing @CrossFitSouthampton and wants every masters athlete out there to "focus on their goals and never give up, because dreams do come true!" #EuropeRegional • #CrossFitGames 📷 @frozenintimefr
