"Sometimes I wonder what my life would be like if I hadn’t been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes almost nine years ago, but, by doing so, I also realise just how strong it’s made me; how it’s shaped me into the person I am today - someone I’m really proud to be. I’m more aware of my health and nutrition, I’ve rediscovered my love for tennis, netball, photography and performing arts, I’ve learned to be kind to everyone, including myself (because we’ve all got something going on), I’ve learned the power of talking about it and connecting with the T1D community and I’ve learned to control what I can and let go of what I can’t. Sometimes it’s absolutely exhausting and sometimes I feel like a total badass, but I’m always grateful for the lessons and experiences on this crazy T1D journey. My name is Rebecca and this is how I live beyond!"
