One of the best things about being back in the A, is getting to celebrate Mother's Day with @sbwidmayer! Love you! โค๏ธ๐Ÿ˜˜

The first time I had a @parkwaypoorboys Catfish Po' Boy was back in 2007 during my days working PBR events at Amp'd Mobile. (Professional Bull Riding, not the beer ๐Ÿ˜‰)
.
Since then, I've eaten one during every trip to New Orleans. The last time was a 2012 post-Jazz Fest po' boy mission with @brilliantimages @christopherbald @ogengeldangle @acengel & @313_creations.
.
The road to Atlanta day 11 catfish po' boy was my last stop on the way out of town & every bit as good as I remembered. Just posting this picture makes me want to hop in the car, drive 7 hours & order another. Best sandwich ever. ๐Ÿ˜ป#recipeforadventures

The road to Atlanta day 11 was filled with some amazing @visitneworleans food. I pretty much ate breakfast, lunch, dinner, dessert & a snack between in a 5 hour span. ๐Ÿ˜‹
.
New Orleans is home to some of the finest sandwiches in the country, but I couldn't very well visit NOLA without a stop by @parkwaypoorboys for a catfish po' boy. It's one of America's great sandwiches. ๐Ÿ˜ป
.
If you scroll back (way, way back to IG post no. 174 when the Nashville film border filter was a thing ๐Ÿ˜‰), you'll find a similar shot of Parkway Bakery & Tavern taken during #JazzFest 2012 #ParkwayforPoorboys #followyournola #eaternola #recipeforadventures

The road to Atlanta day 11 started with beignets at Cafe De Monde for a pre-breakfast snack & followed by my "real" breakfast at @willajeanneworleans.
.
Per the recommendation of @brentlrosen & @carolinenrosen, I had the delightful BBQ shrimp toast, gulf shrimp & burrata on grilled sourdough, NOLA style. ๐Ÿฆ
.
And what breakfast is complete without ordering something off the dessert menu?! Chef @kellyfields chocolate chip cookies & vanilla-infused milk (with a side of cookie dough on the beater!! ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜‹) were a sweet way to complete breakfast. ๐Ÿ™Œ #recipeforadventures #eaternola #followyournola

If you don't stop by @cafedumonde for a coffee & beignets, did you really go to @visitneworleans?
.
Cafe Du Monde beignets were the road to Atlanta day 11 pre-breakfast snack. ๐Ÿ™ƒ๐Ÿ˜‹ #eaternola #followyournola #recipeforadventures

Road to Atlanta Day 10 was spent wandering through @visitneworleans Marigny & French Quarter admiring all the cute homes & sniffing out all the confederate jasmine. I love the smell of confederate jasmine. It's heavenly. I only wish I had a wall or trellis to grow some on. ๐Ÿค”

Black & white combos for a very belated recap from the road to Atlanta days 8 & 9, which were spent in Houston catching up with middle school/high school/college friend @annanoack! โค๏ธ๐Ÿฅ‚๐Ÿท
.
Not to mention, all the delicious Tex Mex consumed. @brettmnoack took me to have THE best breakfast taco ever in a tiny little restaurant at the back of a Shell gas station, naturally. They were so, so good. ๐ŸŒฎ๐Ÿฅ‘ Lupe Tortilla beef fajitas & margs were pretty tasty as well!
.
I spent most of my time in Cypress, which is just northwest of Houston but ventured downtown for a lunch with another college friend @chipstansfield!
.
Can't wait to head back to Houston again for more breakfast tacos & some pool time in Anna & Brett's new pool, which I watched get started while I was in town! ๐Ÿ’ฆ
.
Thanks again for the hospitality, y'all! ๐Ÿ˜˜ #recipeforadventures

The road to Atlanta day 5 started with BBQ in Lubbock & ended with sunset beers in Austin! The route to Austin was one of the more brutal stretches of driving thus far with a long stretch of zero cell service.
.
Day 6 & 7 were spent exploring the incredible food & drink scene around Austin. Led by my local food tour guide @mrnickhuggins & joined up by GT sorority sisters @katiejeanhughes & @hrspillman! Highlights include the blueberry pancakes at @launderetteatx, lunch at @la_barbecue & a bar crawl along Rainey. ๐Ÿ˜
.
There's so much more to see (& eat!!) in Austin. I'll definitely be back to visit again soon, but hitting the road to Houston! ๐Ÿš™ #recipeforadventures

Starting the road to ATL day 5 Texas style with some ribs, brisket & green chile cheese grits @eviemaesbbq. Plus, they serve free beer with their BBQ. ๐Ÿ˜
.
My local Lubbock couchsurfing hosts gave me the recommendation & it was phenomenal. Per their rec, I arrived early & was first in line! I'm told it can wrap around the building on Saturday's. .
I got the banana pudding for dessert, with homemade GF vanilla wafers & a slice of Texas sheet cake for the road. All of their desserts are gluten free because one of the owners is Celiac. I wanted to order one of each, but I held strong at two. ๐Ÿ˜‰ If y'all find yourselves in West Texas, definitely hit up Evie Mae's BBQ!
.
Two lovely folks (Stacey & Randy) invited me to sit with them. They pointed out the Texas Tech Director of Football Operations, Coach McVay, who sat behind us. They also pointed out how cute (& single!!) the Texas Tech Head Coach Kliff is. Apparently I'm late to this info & it's a known fact the TT Coach is super cute & single. I did tell Coach McVay to pass along my info to Kliff & he said I wasn't the first to ask. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

Austin bound! Happy Friday, y'all! #recipeforadventures

The road to Atlanta day four was a looong one. 12.25 hours driving, 3 time zones & 5 states. ๐Ÿ˜…
.
The hour & a half detour to see the Mexican Hat & Monument Valley was completely worth it. I drove first from Kayenta up US 163 to Mexican Hat. The benefit of this was getting to view Monument Valley driving back south. This shot is taken on US 163 between mile markers 12 & 13. Apparently it's sometimes called Forrest Gump highway because he ran from Mexican Hat into Monument Valley heading southwest. ๐Ÿƒ๐Ÿป
.
After Monument Valley, I treated myself to a Navajo Fry Bread taco for lunch. It was ๐Ÿ‘ Following lunch, I had very little data service & ended up taking the long(ish) way to Texas. The bonus was I drove right by Four Corners, so I got to stand in Colorado, Utah, New Mexico & Arizona at the same time. Fun fact: while Arizona doesn't observe daylight savings, the Navajo Nation does. It was very confusing driving in Arizona but jumping an hour ahead earlier than I planned. I probably sounded like an idiot holding my phone & asking what time it was at the gas station. ๐Ÿ˜ฌ๐Ÿ˜‚
.
I've made it to the Lone Star State! Nearly half way home. Lubbock for the night & off to Austin tomorrow for the weekend. ๐Ÿป #recipeforadventures

More scenes from the road to Atlanta day three: midday at Horseshoe Bend. America, you really are beautiful. ๐Ÿ’™ #recipeforadventures

.
The road back to Atlanta day three was spent driving the Zion-Mt Caramel Highway down to Page, Arizona where I spent the day at Horseshoe Bend and Lower Antelope Canyon. Also, my second couchsurfing experience here has been just as lovely as the first & spent the evening playing card games with my host & fellow surfer.
.
Tomorrow is a big driving day heading to Lubbock, Texas. If anyone feels like chatting on the phone, I'll be in the car for a while... ๐Ÿ“ฒ๐Ÿš™๐Ÿ—บ #recipeforadventures
