Fina Rule SW 6.3 says that your head must break the surface not farther than 15 meters of the starting/ turn wall on backstroke discipline. It's also valid for fs and bf. And yes the water creates less drag below the surface of physics.. . . . . if you like swimming follow me. @bestsport_swimming . . .
🏊♂️ straight arm☺️Bent arm 🏊♂️ The ‘Popov’ drill. . .
I’ve had a lot of messages about this drill which I stole & evolved for straight arm from the great Alexander Popov. (He didn’t use fins) Works all aspects of the Freestyle stroke, high hands, high elbow catch, rotation, core, coordination & steady continuous legs. Demonstrated by @benproudswim (straight arm) & @chadleclos92 (Bent arm). . Basic points (1) ‘dry arm pits’ Keep the arm pits dry for as long as possible. (2) keep the fingers pointing to the other end of the pool on entry to prevent cross over (3) Steady legs (4) Pause in the middle of the stroke. . . . #repost by @__jamesgibson__@3ftri . . if you like swimming follow me. @bestsport_swimming . . .
