The Disappointment Islands earned their moniker after Lord Byron's grandfather attempted to anchor his ship, the HMS Dolphin, and come ashore, only to be driven away by the natives. Today, Napuka and Tepoto remain two of the most isolated islands in French Polynesia, their remote location and unfortunate name sheltering them from the rest of the world.
Writer @wheresandrew made the arduous journey to Napuka and Tepoto, and his experience was anything but disappointing. Click the link in our bio to read his story.

#SouthAfrica's Cape Floral Kingdom is the smallest of the world's floral kingdoms, but it's the most diverse. It has three times as many types of plants as the Amazon rainforest, with 70% of the species growing nowhere else on Earth.
Perhaps the most important type of plant here is fynbos, which plays a crucial role in water conservation in the Western Cape. The plant variety, which is made up of around 9,000 different species (including rooibos, commonly used for tea), has evolved to rely on regular brush fires to survive.

Bread is a staple of the "zakuski" (snack) spread at any Russian party where vodka toasts are taking place. "Vodka should be cold, glass should be tiny and there must be something salty, or rye bread, to follow,โ€ says Helena Bayliss. However, the bread isn't always eaten: sometimes, it's sniffed instead. Every winter, millions of families in #China sit down together to savour tangyuan, a sweet dumpling filled with ground black-sesame paste. The bite-sized sweets are usually eaten during the Lantern Festival on the final day of the Chinese New Year. It's widely believed that eating the tangyuan during the first full moon of the year alongside loved ones will bring happiness and good fortune.
