This morning we released more of a collection I'm so stoked our @szkaiao team is a part of at @sigonsmith. What started as a collection focused on prints with a relation to the pō mahina, grew into a feature for @sigonsmith with Kalei Nuʻuhiwa, bringing her ʻike and designs to Chinatown.
I was fortunate enough to translate her designs into 2 textile prints, Malama Pili and Anahulu, both conceptually created and named by @maka3photography. My ultimate geek moment was figuring out the repeat for Malama Pili, using @sigzanedesigns original hand cut "Kāloa" Art based on koa leaves for Anahulu, also turning it into a 3 color print 🤓
Another hua from this project that appeared was a collab with @mikiamens jewelry. @kuhao wanted the beads to stand for something and have meaning to its order, I couldn't help but see the stars line up and have it follow the helu pō.. voila Lei Kaulana Mahina.
And then even further with the creation of Pāpālua Lunar Business Calendar. Being able to see what pō it is and which days are good for meetings or asking for raises, right on your iCal. Mahalo @szkaiao for continuing to make regular designs aligned with intent, to honor our culture.
