Sports-Specific Training is Often Over-Used and Misunderstood Training Concept -
Sports Specific Training is NOT adding resistance to Sports-Movements βŒπŸ™…β€β™€οΈβŒ
-
For Example, Making a Tennis Player Practice her Serve with a Dumbbell....
-
SO WRONG! For MANY Reasons! -
However, giving all athletes GENERAL strength, agility, speed, and conditioning exercises is ALSO ineffective for OPTIMAL development ‼️
-
When training athletes, it’s important to have a plan, understand the movements and energy systems involved, then create a program with exercises that improve those variable πŸ’― -
Here, the purpose of the drill is having one of our πŸ€ players @jacob_orender cognitively register two hand movements from @thackattack95 with his own, then react according to their change in speed πŸ’₯ -
This improves his mental cognition [processing speed leading to a reaction from the stimulus] in a defensive stance, translating to greater defensive awareness and reaction to a ball handlers threat to shoot, pivot, and dribble πŸ”’ -
Have a purpose that is clear, systematic, and intentional; then execute πŸ’ͺ -

Let’s talk about Acceleration πŸƒπŸΌπŸ’¨
-
The last time our athletes focused on acceleration at #BoostSportsPerformance
-
We focused on resisting our hip flexor strength and power in the optimal acceleration angles πŸ’₯ -
This time, we worked on contrasting the maximal motor unit recruitment of driving the Heavy Sleds πŸ’ͺ -
Immediately into an Overspeed or Assisted Resistance Acceleration movement, forcing greater speed of movement with proper mechanics πŸ‘
-
Here at #BSP, we make sure the system in place is systematic, well-instructed, and effective to improve your performance into #BoostMode

At #BoostSportsPerformance we do more than just lift weights, run fast, and look good -
Our system is founded on FUNCTIONAL MOVEMENT and we program our workouts to improve EACH CLIENT’S ability to functional better
-
Here, one of our Kinesiologists @jerrian_sand taking one of our clients through a functional movement screening to determine which functional movements, its associated musculature, and joint integrity of those areas are working optimally or not
-
Stop in today, lets begin your journey to healthy, optimal, and functional movement TODAY!

Rotational Power is a HUGE Aspect of Training that is often overlooked and underdeveloped by coaches and athletes alike. -
Rotational Power has many applications outside of simply rotation-dominant sports like baseball, golf, and boxing. -
Being able to generate rotational power efficiently, effectively, and explosively translates to greater overall agility - the faster you can rotate your body [hips, torso, and shoulders] the faster you can change directions!
-
We train this in a variety of different ways, but one of our staple movements is the -
Medicine Ball Rotational Wall Throws
-
The Main Points we are Focusing on during Rotational Movement are:

1 - Making the hips the primary generator of force and leader of direction the force is being translated to

2 - Maintaining a stable and engaged core throughout the movement so as to properly translate force from the ground through our body and finishing in the hands

3 - Pivoting on our feet sequentially during the wind-up and the finishing phase (pay close attention the feet)

4 - Using the arms as extra generators of force throughout the movement [a push/pull dynamic]

It’s Time to Get Educated! πŸ“š
When training for agility, there are two ✌️sensory patterns that the brain recognizes that determines the type of response the body creates -
A Closed (or Planned) Agility Pattern
AND

An Open (or Reactionary) Agility Pattern

While both have their place, TECHNICALLY a Closed Agility Pattern is classified as a
Change of Direction Exercise
rather than TRUE agility

So, in this drill, we are focusing on Open/Reactionary Agility Patterns through Light Stimulation πŸ”΄πŸ”΅πŸ”Έβšͺ️ By using a device that, at random, displays 4 different colored lights at varying speeds of change and therefore directs them to the corresponding cone-color, the athlete must
1. Cognitively register which color is being displayed on the device πŸ€”
2. Process their positioning both biomechanically (are they sprinting/shuffling/ect, are they facing the cone or away from it) and spatially (where is the cone they are heading to in relation to where they are at currently) 🧠
3. Redirect their body to efficiently and explosively move towards their new direction in the specified movement pattern πŸƒπŸΌ So, we are able to train their cognitive ability to read and react under fatigue at the desired intensity, duration, and movement - Making this a TRULY Functional Agility Drill πŸ‘

Just some of our ways of measuring an athlete - here at #boostsportsperformance we use systems, not gimmicks or random drills, to create the most optimal and explosive athletes πŸ’₯πŸ’₯ ‭+1 (757) 589-3638‬

The science πŸ“š to the systemπŸ’¨ At #BoostSportsPerfomance we not only instruct for the sake of drills, but we educate to create understanding in our athletes - if they understand, they translate it to the game - then dominate πŸ’―πŸ˜ˆ
