Ayman Mohyeldin  Traveling the world, meeting people, telling stories and eating my way through life. This is how I see the world. Anchor on @MSNBC #onelove

Spent my last day watching the sun set over Jerusalem from the hill tops of Beit Jala. Hard to imagine how a place with such majestic beauty can also bring out the worst in humanity. May this land and all of it’s peoples see better days ahead with freedom and equality for all. Happy to be back home! 📷: @ziadjaber

Dec 9, 2017 | Bethlehem, West Bank. The concierge at Banksy’s Walled Off Hotel greats us at the entrance to the hotel with the “worlds best view”. The hotel is directly adjacent to Israel’s separation barrier which has destroyed and dissected communities along its route in the Occupied West Bank. The hotel took 15 months to complete and was done in secrecy until its grand opening. Part museum and part hotel, the building is decorated with “occupation” memorabilia aimed at educating the public about what daily life is like for Palestinians living under occupation. With 9 rooms, it has become the most exclusive hotel in the West Bank and the wait list is long. #bethlehem #palestine #photojournalism see my tour on my Facebook page

Dec 8, 2017 | Beit El, West Bank. Palestinian youth watch clashes with Israeli soldiers perched on the hill tops in the background. Despite the universal anger at the American decision, not all Palestinians were compelled to join protests and demonstrations against President Trumps decision. There was also a frustration directed at the international community, Arab states and their own Palestinian Authority for failing to prevent the US from taking such a step. Others we spoke to, concede that while the recognition does not necessarily change the reality on the ground immediately, it could emboldened Israel’s right wing government in many of its anti-Palestinian policies across the occupied West Bank. #israel #palestine #jerusalem #occupation #photojournalism #latergram

Dec. 8, 2017 | East Jerusalem. Israeli police stop and search a Palestinian man walking out of the Old City’s Damascus gate following Friday prayers. Thousands had gathered to pray and then protest against President Trumps decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Police broke up the protests as soon as they began. Spokesperson for the Israeli police Micky Rosenfeld said the protests were broken up because demonstrators did not have the proper permits to rally in Jerusalem. #israel #palestine #jerusalem #occupation #photojournalism #latergram

Dec 7, 2017. Beit El, Occupied West Bank. Palestinian youth walk by a barricade of burning tires on a road leading to an Israeli military base. For three days, similar scenes of protests have taken place in cities and towns across Palestinian Territories including East Jerusalem. The protestors have been angered by President Trumps decision to recognize Jerusalem as the capital of Israel in contravention of legally binding UN Security Council resolutions that recognize Jerusalem as Occupied Palestinian Territories. #israel #palestine #occupation #jerusalem #latergram #photojournalism @msnbc

The Damascus Gate entrance of the Old City in East Jerusalem, considered by the UN occupied Palestinian territory. A tense day across the region as leaders and people wait for what could be a historic shift in US policy on the status of this ancient city. I’ll be reporting live from Jerusalem over the next several days. Follow here for personal posts, Live videos and watch our coverage on @morningjoe and throughout the day on @msnbc.

Nov. 6, 2017 | Sutherland Springs, Texas. If you want to get a sense of how warm and how close knit of a community Sutherland Springs is, you need look no further than the community bulletin board hanging at the local gas station across the street from the First Baptist Church. The posts show a community that offered its ‘senior citizens’ a comforting breakfast at a local restaurant, a fun haunted Halloween house for its kids to enjoy and a support group for those that may be depressed or dealing with personal issues and just need someone to talk to. There are ads from people looking for work and companies that are looking to hire... if ever there was a mood board for a town’s character and community or its purpose and belonging... this was it. I stopped and admired every advertisement... as if it were the personal story of someone i personally had known in this town. And as i walked away, i wondered, as i had on so many other tragic stories around the world: why do bad things happen to such good people. Would we have ever heard of Sutherland Springs’ goodness if it weren’t for the evil it had just witnessed? #texas #sutherlandsprings

November 6, 2017 | Sutherland Springs, Texas. A school bus carrying young students pulls out of an intersection across the street from First Baptist Church where 26 people were killed in the worst mass shooting in Texas’ history. The ages of the victims range from 18 months to 77 years old and included whole families who lost children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren many of whom would have been classmates of those on this bus. In this close knit and small community everyone has been affected by the massacre. #sutherlandsprings #texas #photojournalism
