ARE YOU FROM PAPUA NEW GUINEA AND ARE THINKING OF BECOMING A PILOT? Aviationfly.com has done some research to list potential options below

Did you know there is only one Pilot School offering Pilot Training courses in Papua New Guinea (a second one is currently still being developed)? That’s right, there’s not a lot of training options for aspiring pilots in the country itself, so the second option which most of the students usually take is going abroad and taking their flight training in other countries. We have listed some of the popular options below.

Pilot School in PNG

The only school offering flight training for Papua New Guineans in PNG is Mission Aviation Fellowship MAF Training (link for more information - https://www.aviationfly.com/training-institutes/mission-aviation-fellowship-maf-training-png/). This school has been applying the ‘One Training Centre, Two Campuses’ approach which means they also have a version of the same school in Australia.
Airline-sponsored Training - Air Niugini Sponsorship

The demand for pilots in PNG is high and it has now started developing by leaps and bounds. More and more aspiring pilots from PNG are now interested in flying for airlines such as Air Niugini, PNG Air as well as airlines in other countries, most especially Asia, as they have lowered the requirement for pilot applicants. Air Niugini’s pilots at the moment are mostly expatriate pilots although there is a preference to higher more PNG nationals and support the local community. That is why Air Niugini decided to give scholarships to deserving pilot cadets through a National Cadet Pilot Training Program (more information about this program can be found here - http://airniugini.com.pg/about-us/news/air-niugini-pilot-cadets-sign-contracts/). 1,000s applied but only 4 were selected so it is a challenging route to go to get your Commercial Pilot License.

“One year ago I became a #boeing 777 pilot! It’s amazing the places this incredible machine has taken me. I still can’t believe how small the world has become since working with Emirates.

I pinch myself every day and remember flying around in outback Australia in little Cessna’s that continued to break down on me. I remember looking through the windows at @melbourneairportau and wondering if I would ever be smart enough to be an international jet pilot.
If anything I have proved myself wrong when I doubted myself and thought it would be easier to give up.
It’s also been a year since paying off all my flying training debt so the beers are on me 🙌🏽” Photo repost from @domcotdotcom .

TOP 10 REASONS WHY YOU SHOULD BECOME A PILOT IN ASIA

If you’ve been dreaming about becoming a pilot and thinking about taking a flight training course and getting your pilot license, one of the things you would have probably thought of is where you would want to work after getting your Pilot’s License.
Aviationfly.com has done research to give you the TOP 10 REASONS AS TO WHY BECOMING A PILOT IN ASIA HAS NEVER BEEN BETTER.

1. Asia has the highest demand for pilots globally. You know what this means. A high demand for pilots equate to you having a higher chance of landing a job with your favorite/dream airline. More than 216,000++ new Pilots will be required in the Asia Pacific region in the next 20 years!! 2. Asia has the fastest growing aircraft fleets. This means you will continually fly the latest Aircraft and quickly progress to the Rank of Captain as you fly a high number of hours per month.

3. Flying over Asia will give you the best office view. Let’s admit it. Overlooking all the beautiful islands in Asia when you fly is the best feeling ever.

4. Asian airlines offer higher pay. There was news circulated recently about Chinese airlines hiring Australian pilots and offering them up to $400,000 a year tax-free. This is one proof that the supply and demand for pilots in Asia translates to premium pay and opportunities for domestic and expatriate pilots.

5. You have a chance to work and move around in Asia. As the majority of Asian Airlines are growing you will be approached by them and get different offers. You will have the chance to live in a new place and learn a new culture which is always exciting.
