Expansion of Filipino Airlines - A Reason to Start Your Aviation Career in the Philippines
As of today, there is a total of 7 Filipino airlines including Philippine Airlinese, AirAsia Philippines, Cebu Pacific Air, PAL Express, SkyJet, CebGo and AirSWIFT (formerly ITI), 14 Charter Airlines, and 2 Cargo Airlines in the Philippines. All of these airlines are currently on the quest for expansion.
This expansion is prevalent as you can see these airlines ceaselessly acquiring more aircraft, as well as looking for more pilots, flight attendants and aircraft engineers to fill in their teams.
One of the Filipino airlines that never stops growing and expanding is the country’s flag carrier, Philippine Airlines. Just recently, this airline was certified by SkyTrax, a London-based international air transport rating organization, with the 4-Star Airline Rating for the quality of its onboard product and staff service, as well as the Philippine Airlines home base Airport service. This has been one of the airline’s greatest achievements after many years of operation.
Acquiring New Aircraft
PAL’s achievement isn’t surprising as they never stop aiming for growth. Hence, it is also not shocking to hear them want to push their 4-star rating to a 5-star airline status. This year, they plan to spend around $2 Billion to acquire 15 new planes which includes 4 Airbus A350s, 6 Airbus A321 neo (new engine option), and 5 Bombardier Q400 next generation planes. As of the today, PAL has a total of 88 aircraft, and acquiring the 15 new planes will bring their fleet to a total of 103 aircraft.
