Mira Costa 2017 IBVL Champs πŸ† So stoked for these boys and what they accomplished. Future is bright for all of them. Awesome group of guys (and gal!) to coach with and incredible parents who did a ton behind the scenes. Thanks for an epic season - let's win the pairs now!

The first music I can remember hearing as a kid was Tom Petty's Full Moon Fever album playing loud on my Dad's stereo. I know a lot of people say stuff like this but he really was my favorite musician all my life - I've got memories and emotions attached to everything he wrote. After my parents split up I would hear any Petty song and remember the good times in our house when we were all together. I still do that... I remember my dad teaching me Free Fallin when he gave me my first guitar that he built himself. I listened to Mary Jane's Last Dance when I got in a fight in Middle School over a girl and thought I was the coolest kid ever πŸ˜‘ I was playing You Don't Know How it Feels when I picked Aly up on our first date and later we walked down the aisle at our wedding to Learning to Fly. I remember playing You Wreck Me turned all the way up on the freeway on the way home after I won my first Open Beach Volley tourney in Arizona with Dana Camacho πŸ˜‚ Ive only once shed a tear at a concert and it was when we saw The Heartbreakers in Hollywood and TP covered Willin' by Little Feat and I just lost it. When Blake was born I played her Angel Dream and (tried) to sing it. I was playing her Yer So Bad a few months ago after I had a bad day and when I sang "But not me baby, I've got you to save me" she crawled over to me and climbed up to give me a hug. Yesterday when I heard he had died I listened to Room at the Top - "I've got a room at the top of the world tonight, and I ain't comin down." I'll always remember that. Petty has influenced my whole life...and for me there's never gonna be another like him. There will always be a little bleeding heart rock and roll part of me that Petty helped form - no matter how much I grow up. I honestly don't know if he knew Jesus in his life, but I've been praying that somehow he did so we can meet up one day --------- "You and I will meet again, when we're least expecting it. One day in some far off place, I will recognize your face, I won't say goodbye my friend, For you and I will meet again" πŸ™πŸΌ
