So, what separates the two of those individuals?

Is it genetics?

Is it hard work?

Is it diet?

All of the above might play a role, but the biggest difference between the two are what they are personally identified with.

Meaning, if you are identified as an "overweight person" that's what you'll get and keep...
-
This is for almost every area in life...It's our identity...
-
Where we are currently in life and we're we are going are and will be results of our identity..
-
For example:
-
"I am a person that holds himself accountable"
-
"I am a person that works hard"
-
"I am a person that takes regular care of his body and health"
-
"I am a person that earns X amount a year"
-
"I am a person that exercises regularly"
-
-
So, those are few examples... Some people call them standards.. Other identity..

Still, it's the same thing..

So, raise your standards and upgrade your identity...

And as the famous quote goes:

"Be careful what you wish for, you might get it"

This is probably one of the most important posts that I've made..

I've been a little lucky to read Carol Dweck book "Mindset" at a younger stage of my life..
-
And reading it, it was quite the experience..
-
I was connecting all the examples in the book with the previous experiences in my life..
-
I realized why I failed at certain things, like quitting at an early stage of the process, being ignorant of useful feedback, and believing that the pros in that field were talent gods...
-
But also, I realized why I succeeded at certain things.. How I was able to learn english (yeah it's not my native language), or how I was able to get good in the gym...
-
It was mostly because I didn't took failure personally. I learned from it from an understanding that it is necessary part of the process...
-
I know this all seems like a common sense... But you would be surprised to learn in how many things we accept the things as they are without questioning why they are like that, and how they can be better..
-
So, I would love to write longer caption, but it would be the best if you'd go and read "Mindset" by Carol Dweck..

If I had to choose one book to read all the time for the rest of my life, it would that one....

Some Notes:

Leg Extensions VS Leg Curls is 4 sets x 10-15 reps... Really try to focus on the muscle mind connection, instead of just going up and down.. You can even make small pauses and slower negatives...
-
The Calve Raises are 12-20 reps, it's blurry on the pic.. Going really slow down 5 4 3 2 1 ๐Ÿคฃ

Well, the main cause is simply eating more calories than your body needs...

But, that's not the root of the problem here..

The problem is the behaviour that makes us eat more and move less..

1โƒฃ Technology: Elevators, Dish Washers, Cars, you name it.. We are doing much less physical activity comparing to years back..
-
2โƒฃ Cheap Tasty Foods... Tasty+Cheap+(High Calories).. What a Combination..
-
3โƒฃ Depression.. And doesn't necessarily mean real depression.. Maybe just a bad break up, bad feelings, bad day at work, tiredness, and as a way to comfort ourselves, we get one of those "Cheap Tasty Highly Caloric Foods" ๐Ÿคฃ

4โƒฃ Peer Pressure.. Friends eat of those "cheap highly caloric foods".. You eat too.. Or beers for a sports game.. You know..

What can we do about it? ๐Ÿ™„

First it's important to understand how to look at all this...
-
Weight loss is a significant psychobiological change, and for you to lose weight and keep it of forever, you need to do the necessary "mental shift"..
-
Including changing your beliefs how this works, changing how you look at all this, how will you approach it..
-
So that's where I would start..
-
I would look at it just like another area in my life that needs proper care every day.. Like financials let's say...
-
We all know that guy that tries to become a millionaire in 3 months.. Always fails, and weight loss is exactly like that..
-
Instead, create a sustainable strategy, strategy consisting of daily habits and simple tasks to follow...
-
I have made few posts about the tasks, like "The Fat Loss Protocol" post... I will get into deeper explanation of it in the future as well..

Ever had someone so overly restrictive that even when you make a small mistake, it makes you feel like a total failure?

And in this case you're not the problem, it's the diet's.

See, it's not that you can't stick to a diet, or you are not disciplined enough, it is because you are human..
-
Humans make mistakes, they are not meant to be robots...
-
And most diets require you to become a robot. -
Ain't gonna happen... And when you fail on your "crash" diet, it makes you feel like a complete failure...
-
And you try again, another diet, and another diet, and it's a never ending failing cycle..
-
The solution to this? Break up with all diets..
-
You see, even the word "diet" has a negative connotation in our mind.. Other words that has negative feeling tied to them is the word "prison"...
-
Instead, start building healthier habits, today.
-
For example, start today with drinking more water.. That's it...
-
Start as small as possible..
-
Add one vegetable to your daily regimen..
-
After few weeks add a little bit more protein maybe...
-
Like just start small and build on that..
-
But remember that at the end of the day, your mental health is much more important than your perfect body...

Not realizing that the most effective way to do something, it to simply start doing it...

Start doing it, and adapt on the move...

You can't think about doing exercising and get results, you gotta go do it..

There's a quote I really like "The Only Bad Workout is the one you didn't do"
-
So, most of the times workouts won't be so perfect, maybe you'll feel tired, you won't sure if you are doing it right, but hey, you are actually going and doing it..
-
Still ahead of the most people that sit with their friends telling how they will get shredded in 6 weeks...
-
Go do it, figure it out later.. Adapt and adjust.. Learn along the way..
