Aubade Coffee  230 E Pender / Vancouver Hours Mo: nope / Tu: 8-3 / We: 8-4 / Th: 8-4 Fr: 8-4 / Sa: 9-4 / Su: 9-4

A little test on the flow rate of AESIR Filters vs standard paper ones.

Always experimenting.
Testing v60 pourover methods, mainly doing one larger pour vs a number of small pours.

Changing my commonly held beliefs on pourovers which were based mostly on assumptions and not the result of testing.

Aubade will be closed next Sunday as we are doing a special event. I'll be pouring wine and beer as well as serving coffee cocktails at an art show around the corner.
Date: July 23rd
Time: 1-9ish
Location: Six Woks Studio / Main and Keefer (above Rhinofish). Come look at art, buy some of it, have some drinks and hangout with us.

An awesome photo from the oldest coffee shop in Rome, from an article on NPR.
I love the smile on this guy.
The article was pretty hilarious, especially the part about what makes a good espresso that makes absolutely no mention about the quality of the bean or farming.
That's the Italian approach though.

It's back.
Hacienda Mallorca, owned by Santiago Londoñoi, a naturally processed Gesha variety.
It's stellar.
Notes of Strawberry, Cotton Candy and Syrupy Cherry

Aubade will be closed tomorrow because of the @coffeepotluck tasting that will happen from 1pm onwards. Check their bio for a link to book a spot.
We'll be tasting some really awesome coffee from amazing Australian roasters and chatting about coffee science and extraction.
See you tomorrow

Aubade will be hosting the monthly Coffee Potluck this weekend.
Sunday, 1pm

We'll be hanging out, brewing up some Aeropress, and doing a cupping (coffee tasting) with some amazing beans brought back from Australia by @william_tooley . Afterwards there will be a BBQ.
Please see the link in @coffeepotluck bio to RSVP for the (free) event as space will be limited.

AESIR is proudly sponsoring the Queensland Regional Aeropress Championship. All the competitors will be receiving a pack of filters with their practice coffees, and I wouldn't be surprised if the Queenslanders take down the Melbourne and Sydney baristas when the #australianaeropresschampionship happens later in the year.

This will be Australia's introduction to the improved taste of he AESIR Filters, but it won't be the last.

Thanks to everyone who came by the one day takeover event today. Great to see such a response to a new take on the pop-up concept. Interested in having your own coffee shop for a day, with the freedom to do anything you want? Send me a DM and we'll take about making it happen.

See you this weekend.
Reminder of the Nordic Reproach Takeover on Sunday, where our friend Andy will be running the space as his own shop. Coffee roasted by @timwendelboe and pastries by @annabellechoistudio

A new coffee blogger enters the scene. I've been following @alfreddrinkingcoffee on Instagram for a while now (you should follow him, it's hilarious), and now he has branched out into a full on blog.
Thanks for the 'Decent' rating Alfred, and keep up the good work!

Sunday, July 2nd

Time for another of the coffee shop takeovers, where I hand over the keys and let some else use the space to run their own shop for one day, serving whichever coffee and pastries they want.
We are bringing back Andy's Nordic Reproach since it was so successful last time. He will be serving up beans from @timwendelboe and only doing iced coffee. Pastries will be from @annabellechoistudio. Will be absolutely delicious.
