Ashton  T-shirt quilt maker, designer of custom t-shirt quilts and memory quilts. OmahaNE

Ever jumped into something head first? 🙋🏼‍♀️ @ashton_pleasants is my new thing, and if you’re into sewing, minimalism, simplicity, all that Jazz, you should jump in with me! That’s why it’s been so quiet here; there is a lot going on over there! 😉

That new thing I’ve been hinting about? It’s here. You can read more on my blog or in the caption of that first picture (go to @ashton_pleasants and click on the first picture, or to get to the blog click the link in that profile). But essentially, I’m starting something new. A place to think, to chat, and to grow in simplicity, minimalism, thankfulness, zero-waste, natural stuff, and of course, sewing and knitting. And I would love for you to join me. ☺️

Clarity. I think I’ve been given a huge dose of clarity lately. On what I’m doing, where I’m going, how t-shirt quilts fit in. And I’m excited to show you, soon, soon.
But for now I’m still in the studio, sewing quilts. Sending out one tomorrow and one next week. 💜

It’s been quiet. Mostly because it been crazy loud in my head. So much thinking! And I can’t wait to share. And yes, it includes more images like this, and more of me. 🙌🏻

I mean, really, you can’t go wrong with plaid.

Little bit of old, little bit of new.

Turns out, laying on your sewing table does not encourage much productivity.
Just FYI.

“The floor is cold, you need a rug in here” said the brother.
It is cold and I have a rug, thought the sister, and she drug it into the studio.

It’s so important to learn and grow, and that happens when you step outside of your comfort zone and challenge yourself! The other day I tried paper piecing for the first time, and there is definitely a learning curve! I’m also knitting a sweater and it’s stretching my knitting skills big time.
So, I want to know, how are you challenging yourself?

Quilting is an interesting thing, it has the potential to add so much to a quilt!
But sometimes I find I look at the quilting more than the quilt itself. And that’s why I’ve chosen to quilt my t-shirt quilts between the lines, so you don’t see the quilting from the front. There’s nothing to distract you from your shirts, your memories.
If you love the quilted-all over look, that’s great! =) And if you’re like me and prefer less visible quilting, that’s great, too. There’s plenty of room in the t-shirt quilt world for both! ;) 🌎🌍🌏

It’s FREEZING here today, so this quilt is being picked up just in time for some snuggling or a blanket fort. 💜

Next non-quilt project: pants. That is, if there is enough fabric........
