From last Friday in the woods. Working on a dream project that has had me beaming for days. Foraged a basket full of mushrooms with expert Daniel Winkler, then I prepared a feast for he and I over the fire with our foraged goods. In her new book @brenebrown showed me the necessity of the inhale in order to effectively exhale. We give, we serve, we create, we fight, we make our voices heard. And then we rest, we refuel, and recharge so we can go and create and fight some more. After Date Night In came out I️ started to realize that my career has seasons of pouring out and filling up. While my next book is far from finished the manuscript is in and I’ve started to switch my mindset from giving myself and my creativity to refueling and learning more so when the next season of giving comes I’ll have more to give. So yesterday I️ took a cooking class. @david_tanis has long been a cookbook hero to me and yesterday he taught @thepantryseattle. When your passion becomes your work you sometimes have to fight for your love of it and yesterday I️ was giddy with love for food, the table, and life. And today I’m heading out into the woods to forage and cook for a project that has me tickled with excitement. Inhale. Inhale. Inhale. // This stunning platter of mushrooms turned in to @david_tanis’ mushroom ragout. @basilandpoppyseeds grabbed it to snag a shot and I️ followed because it was too beautiful not too share.
