My dear friend @amy_nicole03 text me an old progress photo from about 4 months in to my weight loss journey, it was captioned "remember why you started". At first I thought, oh heck yeah girl, thank you! I chose sleep over a workout this morning and I really needed this reminder, I was grateful for her encouragement. But as the day wore on and more and more obstacles stepped in my way, as my mood started to tank, and as I grew weary that any of this would ever truly be worth it... it hit me! "Just get to the gym Ashley, just get there." And I remembered, I remembered why a little over 3 years ago I had enough and decided to reclaim my life. It wasn't just to get "skinny" it was because I was sick of being stressed out and unhappy, of accepting the negative self talk and feeling less than and unworthy. It was because I needed to show myself that I could do hard things! So tonight, I got there (in 90+ degree heat) and man did it feel good to channel that motivation from all those years ago. To remember the release and the sanity that workouts provide and that sometimes healthy habits are healthy for a lot more reasons than what appears on the surface! Struggling to stay motivated?! Spend a day reflecting on why you started!
