artprize  The world's largest international art competition. Open to all, independently organized. $500k in Public + Juried awards. Sep 19-Oct 7, 2018.

Last year, our Pitch Night series brought Chris Vitiello's installation "The Language is Asleep" to @grartmuseum. ⠀

The second of our Artist Pitch Night series takes place tonight in Phoenix, Arizona. Five artists will be presenting their idea on how to transform @grartmuseum this year for #ArtPrize10.⠀

Tune in tonight on our Facebook at 7p MT/10p EST, live from Phoenix, to find out who will win this year's $5,000 grant to bring their idea to life this fall!

"Intersections" has returned to @grartmuseum and will be on display for the summer. Make some time for a visit to feel the magic of the Grand Prize winning piece from #ArtPrize6.⠀

The artist, Anila Agha, took some time to talk with us about her work, her experiences during ArtPrize, and life after her big win. Check out our conversation on our blog --> link in the bio

"I love art that reflects our times, and I am excited to be in the position to work with artists who are shaping contemporary culture and bringing the beauty of under-exposed aspects of modern life to a greater public."⠀

As an independent curator, @DexterWimberly has organized exhibitions and developed programs at galleries and institutions around the world. We are excited to welcome him to Grand Rapids this fall as the juror for the $12,500 prize for Best Two-Dimensional Work.

We are excited to announce the winner of our first Artist Pitch Night event for #ArtPrize10. Decided on by a panel of judges, Sadie Sheldon's proposal won the $5,000 grant to bring her work to life this fall in front of Van Andel Arena. ⠀

Sheldon’s piece, which also serves as a social experiment, is inspired by the need to call attention to the rapidly changing and dying natural world caused by the overwhelming amount of waste produced by society.

Last year's $5,000 New Orleans Pitch Night winner was Pippin Frisbie-Calder's installation, Canceled Edition.⠀

Tune in TONIGHT 7p CT/8p EST on our Facebook, live from New Orleans, to find out who will win this year's $5k grant to bring their idea to life this fall for #ArtPrize10

What will people say when they are not sure who is listening? Nina Caruso and Christopher Schneider explored that idea in their installation at Vandenberg Center during #ArtPrize9.⠀

Their piece "Anonymous" was the $5,000 grant winner of the 2017 Detroit Artist Pitch Night. Submissions for this years Pitch Night in Detroit for #ArtPrize10 are open to Southeast Michigan artists through May 17. #TBT to the feeling of the gentle rumble of Zimoun's installation at @SiTE_LAB during #ArtPrize7. ⠀

Using simple and functional components, Zimoun builds architecturally-minded platforms of sound. Exploring mechanical rhythm and flow in prepared systems, his installations incorporate commonplace industrial objects. ⠀

This installation was brought to life with help from an ArtPrize Artist Seed Grant. This year, we will be awarding $2,000 grants to 25 artists for #ArtPrize10. More info on how to apply at artprize.org/for-artists

Robert Indiana’s iconic “LOVE” sculpture was unveiled this morning at Louis Campau Promenade in #downtownGR through support of the Frey Foundation. Thrilled to have this message already feeling right at home in our city. #LOVEGR
Robert Indiana has said his “LOVE” sculpture was a culmination of ten years of work based on the original premise that the word is an appropriated and usable element of art. Just as Picasso and the Cubists made use of it at the beginning of the century, it evolved inevitably, in both his “LOVE” paintings and sculptures.
