Arriane SeraficoπŸ“ Mexico  I teach classes on creativity, business, & design thinking for a community of Why-Driven women. πŸ‡΅πŸ‡ #thepurposefulcreative

🀯 Still find myself shaking my head every time I fly -- I mean, we're flying thru the freaking SKY for goodness' sake!!!!!! I hope I never ever ever get to the point where I'm no longer amazed by this. 😍

Had to say goodbye to @sato.chica this morning, who's been with me pretty much 24/7 for the past 2.5 months πŸ’” The next 2 weeks will be interesting -- my whole life is inside my suitcase *again* -- ✈️ we just got back from DC, then back to Puerto Rico for a free hours, and I'm now heading to Cancun, then Mexico City (where I'll be teaching a design thinking workshop!), then New York, then back to 🏠 Manila.
.
My excitement is tempered with a liiiiiittle bit of resignation - both living from a suitcase (which means living minimally, in wrinkled clothes), and flying solo for most of it (airport security isn't my favorite way to spend my time) - can be quite a challenge, but it's part of the whole journey πŸ˜‚
.
Anyhoo! I'm excited! This is my first time in Mexico + can't wait to meet new friends πŸ’˜ My phone camera is still broken, but I'll try my best to document my trip through Instagram - you're welcome to follow along πŸ’› What hashtag do I use?????
.
PS. Quick q of the day: Have you ever traveled alone? Where to & how was it?!?

Bloom where you are planted. 🌻 Things have gotten pretty hectic over the last few days, and probably will stay a little insane over the next few weeks of traveling β€” but in the meantime, I'd like to ask for a favor.
.
πŸ™‹ Could you please check out my first few videos that I've created for my YouTube channel? (Link is in my IG Stories.) It's been my passion project over the past 2-3 months, and I've been working hard on learning how to create and edit videos. They're not perfect by any means, and it's all still in the fun experimental stage - but I'd love to know which videos you liked best, what you want to see more of, what topics you want me to explore. Just go to the YouTube app and search for Arriane Serafico πŸ’› Your ideas/thoughts/questions will be a HUGE help! My community's insights always inspire my creative process, so I'd love to hear from you. Thank you!!!

3 weeks living out of a suitcase has begun πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ Three years ago, I promised myself I would travel the world. I barely had any savings then - and it all seemed like a ridiculous dream - but I saved, I budgeted, I purged my material belongings, I sold all my stuff that I didn't exactly need or love, but more than anything else - I side-hustled my butt off.
.
Can't even describe the feeling of booking my very, very first trip to San Francisco - it cost me something like $900 and I simultaneously wanted to scream with joy *and* throw up for spending all that money, hahaha! It was amaaaazing though. I went to a conference, attended classes, tried to meet/visit as many entrepreneurs/startups as I could - just tried to learn as much as I can. πŸ’›
.
Travel is an extraordinary experience, and I know it's become so aspirational (& glamorized) these days. But on the not-so-glamorous side of things... travel also costs a lot. If you want to make travel a big part of your lifestyle, you *absolutely* need to budget ahead, think long-term, and spend wisely.
.
TRUST ME. ⚠️ I know more than a few people who pursued their "passion to travel" - and ended up buried in debt, or going broke. That's never a fun destination to end up at.
.
So to any young person who is inspired to travel - MOST ESPECIALLY by all the travel photos on Instagram - one of the best ways to enjoy traveling is when you have your finances properly planned. Set aside a certain amount of money each month & put it in your travel fund. Plan out big trips & budget/save accordingly. Have spreadsheets, if that's your jam. Look for ways to earn extra money, if necessary.
.
I know that's not the most ✨inspiring & magical✨ travel tip to hear, but trust me -- when you're out there exploring the world, traveling stress-free, not guiltily computing every single expense - you'll thank yourself for it πŸ™‹
.
I hope this doesn't discourage you to travel; on the contrary, you know what, it actually makes it 100x more exciting & fulfilling when you work on a big goal that's super important to you!
.
PS. When was the first time you bought a plane ticket on your own? πŸ’›πŸ’›πŸ’› What was your destination?

Looking forward to what's next πŸ’˜ I was scrolling through some of my old journal entries last night, and I found this entry recounting my #quarterlifecrisis struggles back in 2014:
β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €β €
"But when I reviewed my late 2014-2015, I realized that I had just stuck with my day job - nothing else. No new self-started project that made me feel passionate and creative.
.
I WASN'T CREATING. I was just watching (and liking & retweeting) from the sidelines.
.
It was a big a-ha! moment for me.Β SoΒ THAT'SΒ why I've been feeling so dead inside. That's why my confidence level has been so low. That's why I've been feeling so uninteresting. That's why I had been feeling so uncreative and untalented lately." (And the journal entry went on and on)
.
βŒ› Fast forward to 2018, when I found myself in a similar rut early this year - and it was only in pursuing a passion project (my YouTube channel) COMPLETELY for fun - that I was able to respark my creativity & fire.
.
Before that, I was all up to my eyeballs in the operations/admin part of my business that I was left feeling uninspired. The biz was doing good, but my creative side felt a little stunted. So I decided to start telling stories via YouTube. Just because I thought it would be a fun thing to do!
.
Three months into the passion project... Now, I'm writing again, I'm scribbling ideas furiously in my notebook, I'm learning how to edit videos, I'm creating and having fun! πŸ’› It's been much more exciting to wake up in the morning these days.
.
Anyway. Just wanted to share in case you're finding yourself in the same meh/uninspired situation. Go & start a passion project - 100% for fun, don't worry about who views or likes or follows it - and just let it take you where it may 🌻 (PS.To celebrate the fact that I've stuck with my passion project for 3 months - woohoo! - I'm giving away free Glossier makeup hehe, link in my bio)

Man... this week πŸ˜ͺ So today, I'm taking a day off. I'm tired, I'm stressed, I'm sad, and I need to spend time with Chica... because I only have a few more days left in Puerto Rico. 😭

So today is Chica day, period. πŸ• TAP OUT NA! #enoughisenough #buttheresneverenoughchicatime

I'm *that* friend who posts a photo cos I like the way I look in it, nvm that *you* have your eyes closed. LOL love you @sato.chica!!!
.
I spend 90% of my waking days here in Puerto Rico by myself, but seriously it's been 1,000,000 times better this time around because I have Chica! I don't talk to myself as much now, yay! (...although talking to her IS still, technically, talking to myself. Lol)

The menstrual cup was a hot topic on my IG Stories the other day (swipe left to see results from hundreds of votes), & I got SO MANY questions regarding my first time using mine. So. Thought I'd put together my first impressions of @mylenacup & share it with all of you! If this topic is a bit TMI for you, scroll away little angel. πŸ‘Ό
.
Okay here we go!
.
πŸ™„ What took me so long to switch:
I've been thinking about switching since 2015 (yes, took me THAT long), but I just always forget & forget & forget, month after month after month. (Plus I was still working through BOXES of free pads from my sponsored work w/ Modess, lol)
.
πŸ›’ What finally pushed me to get it:
But then 2 weeks ago, I was reading a zero-waste article & the Lena cup was linked; then I thought, 'ooh I'm about to get my period!' I clicked through, ordered it, and voila!
.
πŸ’› What I'm liking so far:
- It can stay in for 12 freaking hours!🀯 Which means I only change it twice a day, AND sleep like a baby!
- I DON'T FEEL IT AT ALL. Seriously, I would have absolutely forgotten about my period... if not for my cramps 😭 But guys, seriously - no discomfort whatsoever
- No leaks πŸ™ˆ which is a freaking miracle for me
.
πŸ™Š How hard was it to get in????
It was waaaaay easier than I expected. It only took me 1.5 tries & 5 minutes the first time I did it. πŸ† I still need to get used to it, but just like anything, it gets easier with more practice!
.
πŸ™‹ Other thoughts:
- I have NO idea how to do this comfortably in a public toilet.
- I got the size large, because @mylenacup said it's for heavy flow (which is me all the time), but I'm not sure if I should have gotten a small instead??? Thoughts????
- I am so amazed: if I had used tampons and pads, I would've used & disposed of a lot of pads + plastic packaging by now. Since this is washable and reusable, I haven't had any waste at all!
.
I hope this has been helpful, and encourages you to switch, too πŸ’› I feel so weird sharing about this in such a public platform, but SO MANY of you guys are very interested in this topic, so whatever πŸ˜‚ If you have any more Q's, I'll try my best to answer them in a full blog post!

Found a @potatocornerph food truck in Miami. *cue choir of angels* #datpotatocornerglow 🍟 Eto lang talaga pinunta ko sa Miami, guys: POTATO CORNER BBQ FRIES

πŸ“· By my photography apprentice, improving by the day, I give this a 10/10: @donnie_3_sticks πŸ‘πŸ‘πŸ‘ (bigyan ng jacket)

Feeling nostalgic & inspired by blogging days circa 2006. More raw, less perfection. When we wrote for the sake of writing, where blogs were fueled by late-night, after-shave/after-work passion. Where creative projects were pursued in the dead of night. When the internet was a hobby, not a "brand." So so so glad I got to experience that (and were actually quite formative years of my life) πŸ’› Kids of today have it so much harder! #wanderrgirl #heyheytheheydays

PS. I MISS FORUMS! Forums were the best.

"I want to start ____ but I don't have the right camera/logo/title/website design yet" πŸ‘‰ Advice on *actually* getting started, on today's YouTube video. Link in bio πŸ’›

To my #BraverGoals and #PDB fam - you know what it is 😏 (I mean, we KNOW this already, but a little reminder never hurts, right???)
