Arcadia Fire Department  Serving the citizens and businesses of Arcadia for over 100 years!

#FunFactFriday What does it mean when it says "Class 1" on your fire trucks?

It means residents, business owners, and visitors to Arcadia can continue to count on first-class fire protection services. Class 1 rating is one of the factors used to determine fire insurance premiums for homeowners and businesses. Fire insurance premiums are based on the quality of service and fire protection available. This top rating means Arcadia property owners could get the lowest premium possible in that area of insurance. According to the ISO, “a community’s investment in fire mitigation is a proven and reliable predicator of future fire losses. Insurance companies use this information to help establish fair premiums for fire insurance – generally offering lower premiums in communities with better protection.” #arcadiafiredept #arcadiafire #class1firedepartment #iso #lowerinsurancepremiums

OES343 as part of Strike Team 1801A are on a 24 hour rest period after providing structure defense yesterday in Catheys Valley. They primarily extinguished hot spots and performed mop up. E106 as part of Strike Team 1204A returned late last night after being demobilized yesterday. #arcadiafiredept #arcadiafire #detwilerfire #striketeam #brushfire #wildlandfire #mutualaid

Arcadia OES 343 was dispatched to the Detwiler fire early Monday morning. After a sleepless night of driving, OES Strike Team 1801A arrived at Mariposa base camp for a short break. They were quickly assigned to a 24 hour operational period providing structure defense in the town of Catheys Valley. They are now off after a very busy shift. #arcadiafiredept #arcadiafire #striketeam #detwilerfire #OES343 #24hourops #structuredefense #wildlandfire #brushfire #busyseason

As predicted it is going to be a busy fire season! Last night OES Engine 343, as a part of Strike Team 1801A, has been sent to the Detwiler Fire in Mariposa County. Stay safe out there fellas! #affa3440 #arcadiafire #detwilerfire @montereyparkfd @monrovia_fire_rescue @montebello_firefighters_3821 @sfs_firefighters

#SafetyTipTuesday According to the CA DMV Driver Handbook, "you must yield the right-of-way to any police vehicle, fire engine, ambulance, or other emergency vehicle using a siren and red lights. Drive to the right edge of the road and stop until the emergency vehicle(s) have passed. However, never stop in an intersection. If you are in an intersection when you see an emergency vehicle, continue through the intersection and then, drive to the right as soon as it is safe and stop. Emergency vehicles often use the wrong side of the street to continue on their way. They sometimes use a loud speaker to talk to drivers blocking their path.
You must obey any traffic direction, order, or signal given by a traffic or peace officer, or a firefighter even if it conflicts with existing signs, signals, or laws. It is against the law to follow within 300 feet behind any fire engine, police vehicle, ambulance, or other emergency vehicle with a siren or flashing lights (CVC §21706). If you drive for sight-seeing purposes to the scene of a fire, collision, or other disaster, you may be arrested. Casual observers interfere with the essential services of police, firefighter, ambulance crews, or other rescue or emergency personnel." #arcadiafiredept #arcadiafire #rightofway #pullover #drivesafely #keep300ftback #wearehereforyou #thankyouforyourhelp

Our members continue to assist as part of Strike Team 1801A and 1206A at the #AlamoFire and #WhittierFire respectively. Firefighters are prepared to be on the road in minutes to spend several weeks fighting wildfires, helping with earthquakes, or other major disasters. This preparedness and coordination of state agencies helps get the maximum amount of help to large scale incidents in a minimum amount of time, all while members at home step up to ensure our city is fully staffed and protected 24/7. #arcadiafiredept #arcadiafire #readyfordisaster #mutualaid #striketeam #brushfire #wildfire #wearehereforyou #keepinghomesafe
