Gorgeous @wildalchemyfoods making granola. The recipe is on the blog if you missed it on Friday. Delicious but healthy, the perfect start to the day.

Last week lovely Lucie from @wildalchemyfoods came to visit and we made her delicious coconut granola together. It’s dairy, gluten and refined sugar free but so good. My girls scoffed this lot up very quickly. The recipe is on the blog (link in profile). I love granola, what’s your fave breakfast food?

Looking back. It’s not often we get to see our coastline from this perspective.
I was going to write something deep about looking back but changed my mind. I don’t feel much like sharing today for some reason.

Clouds of winter flowering blossom. Such a lovely sight this time of year.
On a completely unrelated note, any Netflix recommendations? I can’t find anything to watch. As a general rule, the darker the better. Which might not be quite what you expected 😉

Flowers and texture with a few snippets from the garden. There’s not much going to pick out there yet, but it’s lovely to have a bit of colour. Have a great weekend.

Going back to my roots - When I first joined Instagram, I tended to keep my photos quite simple, and that’s an aesthetic that I am still hugely drawn too. But over time I guess they subconsciously became influenced by others a little, as is bound to happen in this world of constant imagery we now inhabit. But I feel like I want to go back to where I started, to see if I can reignite my passion and feel happier about what I post in general. Do you feel your aesthetic has changed too?

I love pasta, it is one of my favourite things to eat. Today I'm making it with roasted butternut squash and a walnut and sage crumb, using @Barilla Gluten Free pasta. I'm the only one that is gluten free in our house, but actually, the whole family is happy to eat this, it tastes just like the real thing. What's your favourite pasta dish?

I have been thinking a lot lately about whether it’s possible to have it all; be the parent you want to be and have a successful career. So much so, that I’m trying something completely different when it comes to my working week. I’ve written a blog post about it (link in profile), and I’d love to hear how you balance work and life. (Pic here from this time last year when I spent the day with the lovely @jenn_pinder_flowers)

The weather was beautiful in Brighton this morning, and we had a long walk by the sea. It felt so good to be out in the winter sunshine. Then back home for a Sunday roast. My favourite meal of the week. How about you? (No meringues today though, just wondering when I can find an excuse to make these again).

Leftovers from a shoot yesterday, with a lovely brand and their beautiful new product. I can’t show you any pics yet but will do once it’s launched. We now have a house full of flowers, definitely a perk of the job.

Have a good weekend.

One of my favourite places to sit. I forgot to tell you about this month’s #aquietstyle, oops! The theme is simplicity, if you fancy joining in just use #aquietstyle_simplicity on any relevant pics.

On a completely different topic, who read my blog post last night, and has been inspired by @aliceguy to reduce their plastic consumption?

I’ve finally got round to publishing my first blog post of the year, hooray! No surprises, it’s about resolutions, one of mine is to stop saving things for best, just like candles on the dinner table. I’ve started lighting one every evening and I love how it turns what is effectively the kids tea in to a meal that feels special. There’s one more thing I’ve resolved to do this year, and I really think you should do it too! Link in profile if you fancy a read. Have you made any resolutions this year? #aquietstyle_simplicity

This was taken on Christmas Eve on our annual pilgrimage to Eastbourne. My husband’s Nan stays in a weird hotel there every year over Christmas, it kind of freaks me out. But she loves it. Strangely the weather is always awful when we visit, you can’t tell in this pic but it was blowing a gale and really drizzly.

I thought I’d try something a bit different with this arrangement, it is loosely influenced by Ikebana, the Japanese art of floristry. It was actually a fascination of Ikebana that really started me off on a floral path. Have you ever tried it?

Today has definitely not been as peaceful as this image, it’s been back to reality with a bump, school runs and a massive to do list.

There's a new recipe on the blog (link in profile) for a very simple, quick but tasty chestnut and chocolate cake. It's also gluten, dairy and virtually refined sugar free, so it's practically health food 😉 (and thank you to @alexandradudley for recommending olive oil, it's a definite winner).

I took this out of Liberty's window last week, and I rather like it. Perhaps because despite it being a colour photo, it looks almost black and white, and kind of oldy worldy. Or because I wonder where all the teeny tiny people are scurrying along too below, or maybe it's just because it's different from the flowers that I usually take at the entrance. (I did take those too though in case you're wondering, well they are an Instagram staple after all 😉).

Some more festive sparkle, this time with amaryllis and one of my own pictures, brought to life by @mipic_app, such a great way of giving a unique gift for Christmas. I have teamed up with them, to get you 20% off their products using the code EMMA20 and also the chance for 3 people to win a £40 voucher. To enter, all you have to do is:

1. Follow @mipic_app
2. Like this photo
3. Tag a friend in the comments (no limit on tags)

Competition closes on December 18th at midnight (GMT). Good luck!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! More presents wrapped, the tree is up and there's mulled wine on the hob. It's been a good day.

Are you dreaming of Christmas dinner yet? I don't know about you, but I do like to go all out at Christmas, and we usually have about 8 different veg dishes. This is one of my favourite sides, in fact I could quite happily eat it all by itself anytime of year. I've chosen to use organic veggies due to the fact there are fewer pesticides used and they are better for us. @organicuk

For the squash:
- 1 organic Crown Prince Squash
- 1.5 teaspoon of dried oregano
- 1.5 teaspoon of fennel seeds
- 2 teaspoons of coriander seeds
- 4 tablespoons of olive oil

For the dressing:
- 1 bunch of coriander
- 1 tablespoon of capers
- 1 tablespoon of grainy mustard
- 1 lemon
- 3 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil

Cut the squash in to wedges and place in a large baking tray. Put the spices in a pestle and mortar, and grind to a powder. Add the olive oil and mix, pour over the squash and use your hands to make sure each piece is covered with the marinade. Bake in the oven at 200 degrees C for approximately an hour, checking every so often, until they are slightly charred around the edges. Whilst they are cooking make the dressing - finely chop the coriander, and place in a bowl, along with the capers, mustard, juice of the lemon and the extra virgin olive oil. Mix together. Once the squash is cooked, place in a serving dish and pour over the dressing.

Incidentally I use this dressing on absolutely everything, it is so easy and one of my faves, and tastes especially good on fish!

Starting to feel festive with a spot of wrapping and writing cards accompanied by the smell of mulled @CopellaJuice apple juice again to complete the mood. #CopellaJuice #ad

Festive minimalism - this is not how most of the house will look at Christmas. A few years ago I relinquished control of decor, and I let the girls do it how they wanted, who wouldn't want a play dough angel covered in glitter hung on their tree anyway 😉 oh yes, one for #aquietstyle_christmas!

The rain is currently pouring down outside and the wind howling. My Christmas shopping day feels a lot less appealing. Right now, I just want to get back in to bed!

These are my new favourite thing. Spiced Praline meringues from @ottolenghi's new book Sweet. I made these at the weekend, and they tasted divine. I plan on making more on Saturday to take to a little gathering. I can see they will be making a regular appearance this Christmas, and I'm desperate to give some away as gifts, because I love how they look all dressed up with ribbon. #Friendmas #EatSweet #ad
