Anthony Central  NYC native, never leaving. Odd and beautiful things that catch my eye. "Art removes from the soul the dust of everyday life"

A little green goes a long way in Manhattan. One of several decorative containers gracing the entrance of a restaurant on Columbus Ave. A stunning foil to the steel and concrete that most people equate with NYC

COLUMBINE - Columbine is one of my favorite flowers. According to folklore, Columbine is sacred to Venus and enhances both courage and love. Per Scott Cunningham’s ‘Encyclopedia of Magical Herbs’, “Rub your hands on the herb to induce courage and daring, or carry it with you. The seeds are used as a love perfume; when pulverized, they are rubbed onto the hands and body to attract love”. #flowers #Columbine #CentralPark #Instagood

Central Park is turning into an enchanted forest again!

Sand bar across the Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis Reservoir. "Paging Moses - your party of 40,000 is waiting for you. Please report to Customer Service as soon as possible"

I have no idea what kind of flower this is but I fell in love with it during this morning's run around the reservoir

The river was spectacular tonight. I told it all my secrets :)

Lily of the Valley in the making. One week ago, there was nothing growing in this patch of land. Today, one of the most fragrant and delicate flowers pokes it's head up through the topsoil, promising to grace us with tiny bell shaped flowers and hypnotic perfume. Yay Spring!

These sweet little pansies look like they're smiling :) - or maybe it's me, delighted that NYC is 80° today! #spring #flowers #fabulous

Finally! One defiant Crocus pushes it's way through the stones to remind me that last week's snow storm is officially over! In Greek mythology, Hecate accompanied Demeter into the underworld to rescue Persephone from Hades. The earth remained barren without Demeter's care, and her people were in despair. Hecate pushed her sacred flower, the Crocus, up through the surface to give the people trust that Spring was coming and life would be renewed. .
