A safe space to me is any area of place where I feel safe from any sort of danger, be it physical, mental or emotional. A safe space allows me to be myself without any restraints. There are no chains to bind me to anything of social construct which intends to harm my very existence and the free manifestation of my personality.
As suggested by a dear friend, I indeed feel that my church is a safe place for me and many others. In terms of safe spaces, it is a haven- it definitely allows and encourages me to be myself, to be who I truly am. Here, I am free to profess my faith which I personally feel defines every part of me. Here, my whole self is not harmed, my rights are not violated and I receive an overflowing amount of love and acceptance which should be and in fact, are the very constituents of what and how a safe space should be.
