Animal Charity Of Ohio  Mahoning County's only humane society.🐾

http://www.animalcharityofohio.org/

Our good friends at the Mahoning County Dog Pound recently contacted Animal Charity Humane Agents, about an animal that they believed was being neglected. The owner of the animal had contacted the MCDP to tell them that they needed to pick up his dog because he was moving and no one would feed her. ‘Come get the dog or she’ll die’. Humane Agents were able to locate the property in which the animal was kept and were quite shocked upon arrival. In the backyard of the property was a small pen, with a very thin canine inside with no food, water, or proper shelter. It is unknown how long the animal was left inside this pen or when the last time food and water was available. When questioned, the property owner she claimed that she ‘didn’t like animals’ and that the dog belonged to her grandson. Humane Agents were able to safely remove her from the pen and bring her to Animal Charity of Ohio. She was named McKenzie by our staff and is currently enjoying all of the attention she receives. No animal should ever have to experience the feeling of neglect like McKenzie.
Come visit McKenzie and her friends at Animal Charity’s Kennel:

Viewing hours are from 10am-1pm & 5pm-8pm, 7 days a week.

• This weeks “woof Wednesday” Post is featuring out girl betty! Betty is one of our senior pups waiting for her forever home! She has made some doggie friends at the shelter, but would do best in a home with a calmer dog. Betty takes a bit of time to warm up to new people, but with a little time and patience, she will be the best companion anyone could ask for! She loves going for walks and rolling around in the grass! If interested in betty, please visit the adoption center in canfield between the hours of 10-1 and 5-8 everyday! #humanesociety #woofwednesday #adoptdontshop #seniordog

A concerned citizen recently contacted Animal Charity of Ohio regarding a dog tied outside at an abandoned house. The caller noted that the property had been vacant for months and that the dog appeared overnight. Humane Agents quickly arrived at the property to find a scared, young puppy, tied to a pole in the yard. There was no food, water, or shelter available for the animal. The cable she was tied to the pole with was extremely tangled, only allowing her two feet of space to walk. We can only imagine how terrible it must have been spending the night ties to that pole. After gaining the her trust, Humane Agents were able to get her into their vehicle and bring her to Animal Charity. During her car ride, she was named “Peaches” after a song playing on the radio. Peaches is a sweet puppy who enjoys playing with her chew toys and meeting new friends. Please help Peaches find her forever home, where she will never have to be scared again.
Come visit Peaches and her friends at Animal Charity’s Kennel:

Over a year ago, our humane agents saved Pepper from awful hoarding conditions. After many months of hard work, she started to come around and love humans again! A year later, Pepper is still with us. Every morning she sits on the windowsill and greets us as we open the clinic. Every evening, she peeks out the door and wishes us good night. We remind her every day how special she is; we promise her that a forever home will come soon! Won't you help us fulfill that promise?
If you are interested in having this wonderful feline companion in your home, please stop out and visit our cat room at 4140 Market Street, Boardman.#adoptablecat #rescuecatsofinstagram

Hello friends, my name is Otis and I am only 7 months old. Before Humane Agents rescued me, I spent my life in this dirty, small cage. I did not have food, water, or even a clean space to lie down. Thankfully Humane Agents rescued me so I could start a new better life! I was so excited to leave my old cage behind and temporarily move to Animal Charity where I got a clean living space, food, water, and love. I am patiently waiting for my forever home.
Come visit my friends and I at the kennel at 525 West Main in Canfield, Ohio.
Viewing hours are from 10am-1pm & 5pm-8pm, 7 days a week.

This weeks “Woof Wednesday” is featuring our little boy Rocky. Rocky is believed to be about 9-months-old and a terrier mix. We are unsure how Rocky spent the early months of his life but we do know that he spent some time as a puppy tied to a tree before our Humane Agents rescued him. Rocky is still just a puppy that is full of energy and ready to be adopted into a loving home. Rocky is still learning but he has accomplished sitting on command. Rocky would be best in a home without young children and a place where he can exert his puppy energy. We will also provide a free training class for any family that is intrested in adopting or fostering Rocky!
If you are interested in Rocky or have any questions please contact us today!

There are dogs with exceptionally sad stories. Some have been abused. Others have been abandoned. There are dogs who have physical scars while others are so psychologically damaged that they find it impossible to trust the ones who are there to rescue them.
These babies get lots of attention....the one's with the most obvious heartbreak always do. Everyone wants to adopt them. Overflowing shelters suddenly have countless applications for that one dog with the sad story.....while so many of the other dogs remain homeless and wait..... This is Blue. He simply came to us as a stray a few months back. His owner was found but decided to leave him in our care because he said he could no longer afford to take care of him. We soon discovered that he is heart worm positive and will need treatment to save his life.
He is ours now.....7 years old and a homeless Pit Bull mix in Mahoning County---with heart worm. What makes him special? What makes him stand out and be noticed? He's an amazing boy who LOVES his caregivers. He enjoys going for walks and shreds a stuffy toy the way we can only guess he did as a naughty little puppy. Blue has never met a stranger. He loves everyone. He is not sad or afraid. He's happy all of the time.
Blue deserves a loving caring home, as do all the homeless dogs in our area.....and beyond. There are pups who have stories that will move you to do something like adopt or donate....to volunteer or at the least share their story to increase awareness of the homeless epidemic in the dog world. Please let Blue be one of those dogs. To many of us--his story is tragic. Just as devastating as so many others who have lost the life that they once knew. We say he is ours and he belongs to us.....but nothing equals living in a home where you are truly wanted. A home where you can peacefully lay your head at night knowing the morning will bring nothing but love and adventures.
If you are interested in giving this amazing boy a second chance at the love and life that he deserves, please contact us at
acoadoption@gmail.com.
