I'd been in tears periodically all day, in fear and with empathy for the people around me. I felt no sense of pride in my country, nor did I feel a sense of obligatory convergence. I felt so completely helpless in my attempt to fight for our individual rights and for our sense of selves... That's when my sister called me from a protest in San Francisco and reminded me that we can resist, we can demonstrate our knowledge and we can have a say in our future. The love and compassion we feel so painstakingly for humanity will continue, and in time, will conquer. I love you all.
