FEMA chinces out on OOA
Operation Open Arms has for the past 14 years dedicated itself to supporting our US Military. To date, over 15.5 million dollars has been bestowed to 3,796 troops in direct benefits. OOA operates 100% on volunteer staff, no salaries, and not one penny is spent outside their outreach services. Founder, Captain John Bunch, has been awarded some of the highest honors of distinguished public service from every branch of the military and by several Presidents of the United States for spearheading such an authentic cause.
Following the aftermath of Hurricane Irma last September, Captain John's home, and OOA headquarters, suffered more than $70K in damages. While continuing to raise money for and provide OOA services, he selflessly has not allowed any of the donations to be diverted to rebuilding his home where OOA is managed from. Since September, OOA volunteer staff have been running the charity mobily.
OOA qualified for the max $33K relief assistance but FEMA decided to only give them the minimum $6K. It is disappointing that the Federal government will not lend a proper hand to an organization that for over a decade has lend its hand to so many of our service heroes.
Please help give back to OOA so Captain John and his volunteers can continue to provide and support our men and women in uniform.
Your go-fund me donation will go towards rebuilding the OOA headquarters. (Link in bio) If you would like to donate directly to their service programs or learn more please go to WWW.OPERATIONOPENARMS.COM
