Been feeling super strong on this cut so far!! Maintaining & even gaining strength while in a deficit IS doable! A lot of the time, thinking you're supposed to lose strength the moment you lower calories or increase cardio is honestly just a placebo effect. If you have a slow and sustainable cut / deficit in place, are eating plenty of Whole Foods (leaving the capitals it auto corrected to lol), fueling your body, drinking enough water, sleeping enough, and prioritizing carbohydrates around your workouts - you'll be fine. This is 185 for a 5x5 and I'm just as strong now as I was when I started. The deeper you get into a cut (especially if you're prepping for a show) you may start feeling the effects of a deficit more (fatigue, strength loss, hunger) but for the most part you ideally maintain or even gain strength throughout it! "Happiness is the process of becoming your ideal self." Was reading an article by @markmansonnet today that struck a chord. Going on the road trip brings more happiness than actually getting to the destination. Stop trying to find happiness by reaching an "end goal," always being positive (and pretend negativity doesn't exist), or seeking pleasure (aka, always going for the cake every time bc it makes you "happy.") ACTUAL happiness is going through a process of bettering yourself, while growing and progressing as a person along the way. No necessary end goal - literally just STARTING to do more things that help you become BETTER (fitness, reading, volunteering, spending time with friends and family, finding a new sport or hobby, learning an instrument) is what brings that real, genuine peace on the inside. Gonna post like 80 pics from this shoot because I loveeee πŸ“Έ @marksingerman MUA: @jessicakeehus I like to think of sharing thoughts / feelings on here as kind of scary. Not anymore because I'm worried about what people think of me (I used to - a LOT) but because I'm worried about how someone else may perceive what I say. Right now, I feel like sharing about how freakin happy I am lately. Life just feels good - there are so many positive things happening (@briandecosta moving here being one of these key things) along with enjoying my business ventures, friendships, new friendships, etc. But then, I also know that I have some people in my life who aren't in a great spot at the moment. The overwhelming feeling ISNT peace and happiness - it's stress and anxiety. And you know what? I've freakin been there too. Plenty. And all I can say here is that you appreciate the good times SO MUCH MORE when the not so good times exist. Life isn't this exponential "it's all uphill from here" type deal ( #irony because I'm on a hill in this pic) but it's more of an up and down wave that we have to come to expect. Appreciate the lows because they make the highs better. As cheesy as some of these thoughts are they are what go through my mind often and I wanna share em here - and hope someone who reads it actually appreciates it. Love y'all.
