ALPSinsight  Inspiration from the ALPS. Mountain sport images, stories & info. Interlaken, Switzerland by @danpatitucci

Earth Day still seems to be happening.

Transitioning back to being a trail runner with heaps of meters up, down and all around Interlaken. #speedup

One of my favorite little corners of the Alps. A happy place. The Obersteinberg Mountain Hotel in the back of @Lauterbrunnen Valley, complete with a great view of the Berner Breithorn.

Ortler Ski Tour day 5. Today we capped off our trip with a climb of the Ortler Tour’s trophy, the 3851 meter Gran Zebru. This trip started off with low expectations due to lack of snow - but with some effort to get on the high peaks, we managed a superb ski tour. We’ll have full Ortler details on our site soon, it’s surely one of the best ski tour areas in the Alps. Thanks to @kimberly.strom @simonduverney @janinepatitucci and Marine Clarys for five days of fun and exploding kittens.

Morning commute on the Ortler ski tour. Each morning everyone charges out of the Rifugio Branca and heads for the daily objective.

Lots of sun, great friends and Italian huts. We're at the Ortler all this week soaking up what remains of the snow. There isn't much, but there's enough. @outdoorresearch

Today's recon of the Hardergrat, with @kimberly.strom, revealed lots of dry ground but still too much snow for a full mission.

@brodyleven at the start of a great day on the Balfrin Traverse, a super classic, easy alpine route in the Wallis region of Switzerland that serves as a perfect introduction to the high mountains. Read more about it at the link in our Bio.

Looking ahead to summer and the continuation of our #thewayupALPS. This is from last year, on the Oberaarhorn, an absolute classic easy alpine summit in the Switzerland’s Berner Oberland. If you’re seeking a great one day alpine run to a summit, this one is ideal, but be warned… read all about it at the link in our profile.

We made this image in late December while waiting for snow in the #JungfrauRegion Today I ran the same trail and it was snow free and green. This has been a very strange winter in the Alps. Let's hope our summer is as nice and warm. But, sad times for glaciers.

Yesterday, in great conditions, we skied one of the Alps easiest 4000 meter peaks. But, this is the photo I’d like to share. Just when we thought huts couldn’t get any better, we arrive at the Tracuit Hut and what is surely one of the best dining room views anywhere. This is a hut, a mountain hut, serviced by helicopter and only reachable by people hiking, running or ski touring. Oh, and right next to a glacier. For the full story, and ski photos, read Skiing the Bishorn at the Link in our Bio.

A heatwave in the Alps has us seeking dirt in high places.
