ALPSinsight  Inspiration from the ALPS. Mountain sport images, stories & info. Interlaken, Switzerland by @danpatitucci

Still running along… this one from the central Swiss Alps near Engelberg. @kimberly.strom popping on the long & narrow. #SpeedUp #RuntheAlpsSwitzerland

Headed up on a very dry Dent Blanche (4357 meters) last week. Now, after four days of rain and snow, it must be a very different place.

Word is that while I was off climbing mountains the #RuntheAlpsSwitzerland gang found what they're calling Best Trail Run EVER. What?

A trip report from the last days on one of the Alps most beautiful 4000 meter peaks, the Dent Blanche, is in our Stories section, link in profile.
Together with @simonduverney we did the classic south ridge route, which has a feel of something even bigger thanks to an isolated position amongst glaciers. #evoleneregion #wallis #valais

One of the most beautiful and dramatic climbing areas in Switzerland is the Engelhörner, above Meiringen. It's even more dramatic when chased by rapidly building and booming thunderstorms.

Pro Tip: It is very important to keep hydrated during the summer months.

@kirrabalmanno doing her thing to stay ahead of that black line on the Aletschgletscher.

Sadly, todays trail for our #RuntheAlpsSwitzerland project did not pass quality control. We are truly looking for the very best trails and tours, for running, views, and ambiance. Today’s turned out to not be so runnable. Then, as we were discussing options we discovered that a huge section of the trail is closed indefinitely due to rockfall. Decision made.

Mood and weather, we've noticed, have been influential factors in rating our runs. Interestingly, big, threatening thunderstorms that chase us around make for great memories. Today was the rare case where we beat the downpour. So, we found another 5 star run, this one from Arolla in the @evoleneregion #runthealpsswitzerland

Back in the mountains this week for our Swiss Alps Trail Running project. Today we straddled the French border near Chamonix for what turned out to be an easy one. This is a Swiss flat. #runthealpsswitzerland

Maybe it's just a trail run... but to pass through this landscape under your own power should be required. For me, it's here that the connection of all things becomes much more obvious. #runthealpsswitzerland

Another run is ticked for our coming Swiss Trail Running Book project!
It’s the #JungfrauRegion mega-classic Lauterbrunnen to the Eiger Trail and Grindelwald.
To run beneath the Eiger’s (in)famous north face is hugely impressive, and what you see here is just a small part - it goes way beyond and into the clouds.
If you’re interested in knowing more about the book, and what we’re doing all summer to gather content - please visit our Stories page, link in Bio. #runthealpsswitzerland
