Type : Arm Balance and Core
Level : Intermediate

Modifications:
A) Use a yoga block or blanket underneath forehead
B) Use a block underneath feet before lifting up

Benefits:
strengthens the shoulders and arms, creates a stretch through the upper back, and helps to tone the core. The pose can also help to improve balance and concentration, and serves as a great reminder to be playful with your practice and experiment with new variations of old classics.
Contraindications:
Recent or chronic injury to the ankles, hips, shoulders or back.

Type : Standing and Balancing

Modifications:
A) Use a yoga block under the hand.
B) Practice against a wall, leaning the back, head and legs against the wall for support.
Variations: Have the lower hand 1-2 inches above the floor balancing completely on the standing leg.

Benefits: Half Moon pose improves balance, focus, concentration, and confidence. This posture opens the hips and strengthens the ankles, knees and lower body.
Contraindications: Recent or chronic injury to the legs, hips, shoulders or back.

Type : Standing balancing and Hip opening
Level : Beginner

Modifications: Use a yoga block on the floor to support the lower hand.
Variations: A) Bring the raised arm over the ear parallel to the floor.
B) The lower hand can rest on the floor on the inside or outside of the leg, or the lower hand can grasp the big toe with the middle and index fingers.

Benefits: Triangle pose engages every part of the body, strengthens the core, opens the hips and shoulders and stretches the legs.
Contraindications: Recent or chronic injury to the hips, back or shoulders.

Type : Backbend
Level : Intermediate

Modifications:
A) Place folded blanket under knees or under the ankles.
B) Use blocks next to the ankles or a firm cushion on top of the ankles to support the hands if you cannot reach the heels.
C) Come up on the tip toes if you cannot reach the heels.
D)Ā Keep the hands on the sacrum.
Variations: Slide hands towards knees and lower head to the floor.

Benefits: Camel pose opens the chest, tonifies the kidneys and stimulates the respiratory, circulatory, nervous and endocrine systems.
Contraindications: Hernia,or recent abdominal surgery. Recent or chronic knee, shoulder, neck or back injury or inflammation.
