What exactly do you look for in an outfit when you buy for your little one?
Style? Fit? Fabric? Color? How comfortable the outfit is?
.
When I head out to shop or look for clothes online I look for a color she doesn’t have already, style and the fabric.
.
Most important thing while you shop is to envision how comfortable your baby is when she wears the outfit. .
Tada one stop destination for all your questions is @lavendersunco.
They have beautiful trendy collections with breathable and airy fabrics.
.
I loved this outfit when I was browsing through the website for the color and the floral print.
.
When I received the order the fabric felt soft and light.
.
I haven’t washed this yet. I should see how it holds up after a first wash.
.
Until the do check their beautiful range and order up 😊

🌸 Life Skill Activities 🌸
.
⭐️Life skill activities is very important as it helps the child to be self aware and confident.
.
⭐️Practical life lessons enhances independence and mastery of the environment.
.
⭐️Allowing them to wash dishes, mopping the floor, cleaning up the table after meals are all initial life skill activities.
.
⭐️Gradually the child starts being independent like waking up every morning, freshening up to getting ready by picking their own clothes to tying their own shoe lace.
.
⭐️Buttoning is another activity in daily life which needs adult intervention. When we teach the child to pick their own clothes to get ready. There comes independence and they get to know themselves.
.
⭐️When I had visited a Montessori school to shortlist for LittleD’s admission. I saw the daily life skills shelf with these buttoning activity, zip, tying shoe lace activities set up.
.
⭐️I had few old embroidery hoops lying around and thought of recreating this at home. .
⭐️All you need is a embroidery hoop and an old shirt. You can replace the shirt by sewing a zip to the cloth or any old Baby romper or a shirt with a zip will do.
.
⭐️I trimmed the edges of the shirt for easy storage.
.
⭐️All you need to do is hand this over to the child and teach them how to button. Initially it’s a struggle, they might lose interest eventually but don’t give up.
.
⭐️Now LittleD washes dishes, cleans up if she spills water while playing, kneads roti dough, peels vegetable skin, brushes her teeth (includes taking a pea sized amount of toothpaste all by herself), washes her hands, face, flushes after pee and poop, puts on her shoe(without lace though) .
.
⭐️It’s all because we allow her to do it. We don’t look for perfection but ah attempt at the first place is a win win 😊
.
How do you encourage your child with such life skill activities? .

🌸 Free Play/ Messy Play 🌸
.
Paint wasn’t a thing at our place at all. I somehow feared the mess due to carpets here in the US. .
After we moved to a new place I felt a lot better as it was wooden floor and easy to clean. .
I got some @crayola washable paints and asked LittleD if she wanted to paint. She jumped with joy and did some artwork today while I cleaned the house.
.
A little mess, happy child and a clean house it is ❤️
.
May be it’s high we overcome such small fears and let the child enjoy the moment.
.
It’s papas birthday today and we can’t wait to meet him 😊😊💃

🌸 Shape and Shadow 🌸
.
🌸Whenever you start an activity make sure you make it challenging every time the child completes it in a lesser time than you actually thought.
.
🌸 After the normal shape sorting and shapes puzzles I came across this activity in an Instagram page.
.
🌸 I sat down to set this up and did the basic shapes first instead of complex ones.
.
This activity develops ⭐️ Problem solving ⭐️ Logical thinking
⭐️ Shape recognition ⭐️ Hand eye coordination . .
🌸 All you need is cardstock paper, cardboard and crayons/sketch pen, cutter/scissor .
🌸 Cut out shapes and keep aside. In another cardstock paper you can create the shadows by tracing the shape. Colour and you are all set.
.
If you are running short of time you can find the printables at @anastasiya.kolesnik .

🌸 Make reading together a close cuddly time. .
🌸Reading before bed may be the perfect time to hold your baby on your lap and cuddle together while you read.
.
🌸Don't worry about reading a book start to finish. It is great if you can, but if your child wants to stop and hold or chew on the book, that is okay. That is another way infants take in information about their world.
.
🌸Point out and name pictures. Later ask your baby to find the "cow", "horse", etc., when you point to it.
.
🌸Increase the length and complexity of books as your child shows interest. .
🌸By about one year of age, some babies will enjoy hearing a short book with a storyline.

.

So now coming to what my cubbie is reading currently 📘
.
MY LITTLE BODY BOOK written and illustrated by Shruti Singhal
.
📔LittleD will start her school shortly and it’s her first time away from a known place all alone.
.
📔 The best thing you can give your child is awareness. Train them for good and bad touch.
.
📔 When I started my research I came across this book in amazon and ordered it right away .
.
📔 This book is an answer for all the questions you get once they grow up.
.
📔 First and foremost thing is never be ashamed of your body. Avoid these lame “shame shame puppy shame” quotes when the kids are around. You are teaching that child to be ashamed of himself/herself but not encouraging to put on clothes.
.
📔The author has beautifully explained about the touches and how to call for help when in need.
.
📔 Also narrates about how it’s ok to talk to adults you TRUST about everything.
.
What we learnt from the book:
.
🍀 LittleD makes sure she puts on her underwear as soon as she is done using restroom.

🌸 Number Hunt 🌸
.
We are progressing with identifying numbers and this activity was fun.
.
It was a mixture of sensory play and number recognition.
.
All you need is a bin of rice( any grains of your choice ) , numbers and print the numbers on another cardstock paper.
.
Ask the child to match the numbers and make sure you repeat the number loud and clear when they match.
.
The next stage can be-
Tell a number and child can pick the right one and place on the cardstock paper 😊
.
The beauty of an activity is you can make it challenging whenever the child finds it easy.

🌸 Phonics Basket 🌸
.
This was our phonics basket today. Before I started off with this I googled about phonics and the sounds.
.
Because this was new to me. I had never heard the exact sounds (other than the YouTube rhymes one ). .
I wanted to be sure before teaching her something I had no clue about. This might be a longer and slower journey but it’s worth it at the end.
.
She did well with identifying the objects but she took a little longer to associate with the sound and letter.
.
But hey it’s ok! They can take their own time to learn. It did put me off a little. But my efforts will pay off one day. .
It’s not essential to show the world what a genius I have given birth to because every little mind out there is a genius of their own and I am proud of mine❤️

You may wonder about the benefits of reading to your baby. An infant won't understand everything you're doing or why.
.
But reading aloud to your baby is a wonderful shared activity you can continue for years to come and it's an important form of stimulation.
.
When you read, your child hears you using many different emotions and expressive sounds, which fosters social and emotional development.
.
Reading also invites your baby to look, point, touch, and answer questions — all of which promote social development and thinking skills.
.

So now coming to what my cubbie is reading currently 😬
.
WHAT THE LADYBIRD HEARD written by Julia Donaldson and illustrated by Lydia Monks.
.
📘A beautifully illustrated book which makes sure to hold grip of anyone reading through.
.
📘 The story has a beautiful twist at the end which gives everyone reading it a sigh of relief.
.
📘The main positive about this book is illustration and the narration. .
📘 The book also plays an important role to teach “animal sounds” to your child.
.
📘 This farmyard tale helps you teach different kinds of animals as well.
.
📘Lastly the author has given a small activity where the reader has to find that tiny ladybird in every page. Which is a fun addition.
.
How did this book@help us?
.
🌸 I started off with dramatic reading which LittleD would listen to repetitive times.
.
🌸 We started off with animal recognition to animal sounds and now it’s all about the story end.
.
🌸 She is always excited to search the ladybird in every page so there you get your motor skills .
.
🌸 When we read this book recently I also let her know “why stealing is not good”. .

🌸 Number and Counting 🌸
.
If you are already following my feed you must know we have boarded our numbers and Counting ship and so far it’s sailing smooth.
.
As kids grow older they comparatively take a lot of time to sit composed and concentrate on a certain thing. Which pretty much is my challenge. That’s the reason I am trying variations with the same end results.
.
This again is an easy to set up activity and all you need is some used water bottles ( don’t worry if you don’t have any use a paper glass may be) and some popsicle sticks or Pom poms ( this can be replaced with available grains for older kids )
.
This is a little challenging activity as the child needs to concentrate on the color as well as the number/Counting part.
.
So initially let the child take lead and see what they figure out. As soon as I handed over this to LittleD she started sorting them based on colours and I let her do it.
.
Then I traced the numbers and made her count while she put the sticks in. She did them right but was more excited to get those sticks out! Yay she laughed out of triumph when they were all out 😂
.
Well back to this, you can always reuse this activity by changing the colours and numbers as the child gets comfortable.
.
This activity helps in .
⭐️ Color recognition
⭐️ Sorting
⭐️ Gross motor and fine motor skills
⭐️ Hand eye coordination
⭐️ Number recognition
⭐️ Counting
.
Minimal items for a very interesting activity isn’t it? .

📘 Parenting Book Review 📘
.
How to talk so little kids will listen -written by Joanna Faber & Julie King
.
I started reading this book and I should agree that it’s for sure a survival guide for parents with kids of age 2-7 years. .
I loved the chapter “Resolving conflict” where the author gives tips and shares small snippets about how to deal daily conflicts with a child. .
Kids tend to shut down when they feel you are insulting them. This book definitely gives you ways to deal with them without insulting.
.
The chapter “engaging cooperation” is a breather because when a child is reluctant to do something a parent wants is where all the meltdowns starts. You are all sorted about how to get the kids do what you say.
.
I loved this book and it sure has helped me in a few instances. .
Will review few more parenting books going forward.
.
This book is available on @amazondotin .

🌸 Numbers and Counting 🌸
.
Since we are on a Counting spree added this DIY puzzle to our activity adda. I never knew making a puzzle from scratch was this easy. If I knew this before I could have saved a lot of money 😬
.
For now we have started to count till 5. You can always add more.
.
So all you need to make these puzzles are cardboards, white cardstock paper, scissor and glue.
.
⭐️Cut same dimension cardboard and cardstock. ⭐️Once you mount the cardstock paper, cut the desired shape on one cardboard. ⭐️Trace the trimmed shape on the other pair and cut that too.
⭐️ You can draw or print the number for counting.
.
Do give it a try!
