In 2013, I was diagnosed with bilateral impingement in my hips. I was referred to multiple doctors, but the only doctor that could diagnose and correct the impingement was Dr. Bryan Kelly at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. Even though I wasn’t there for cancer treatment, the Ronald McDonald House opened their doors to my mom and me three different times. I learned so much about life and how the simplest acts of kindness can make someone's day. I could not wait to give back to the Ronald McDonald House once my hips healed and I have the privilege to do that this March by running the NYC Half Marathon on behalf of the Ronald McDonald House.
The Ronald McDonald House New York gives families with sick children the gift of togetherness, and keeps them near the care and resources they need to thrive. It is more than a place to stay. RMH supports each family with wellness and meal programs, tutors, music, art, transportation, activities for siblings, birthday parties, and camaraderie for parents struggling with their child’s cancer diagnosis. The House can accommodate 95 families and is filled to capacity almost every night. Since its founding, more than 35,000 families have stayed at the House calling it their “home away from home.” Thank you in advance for your love and support; I’ll be thinking of you every step of the way! All donations support the children and their families at the Ronald McDonald House New York!!💛❤️ https://www.crowdrise.com/ronald-mcdonald-house-new-york-nyc-half-2018/fundraiser/alinalewandowski
