Reference V.S No Reference
Y’all so this wasn’t even meant to be a reference v.s. no reference challenge, it was actually supposed to be one of those pages where people just fill it with faces.
I drew the first face and was like “now what” so I found a pic, drew it and gave up.
I struggle a lot with drawing from reference, which is weird considering I started my drawing career(?) by copying things.
I found it really easy drawing the no reference dude because I often draw white guys, but the second dude I STRUGGLED. Not only was I drawing POC features, i had to make it look like the photo. And also I’m not good at drawing soft features like you can tell that the first guy is very angled, sharp lines and all. The second guy though has very rounded features, all soft lines no angles.
I’m trying to work on perfecting this style so I can start drawing like this in my watercolor paintings. I’ve only ever managed to do it once in my Depression piece.
I’ve tried to draw something this detailed but front facing instead of profile, didn’t go to well. So once I manage to do that I’ll be changing my watercolor drawing style.
I’m getting tired of that weird cartoonish line-art.
((I was taking pics of the drawings in the balcony and got distracted with the sky and wanted to show you loll))
