i may be speaking a little more for myself with this one, but i also think it’s safe to say that a lot of us never let ourselves feel totally content in our talents and our abilities. we spend so much time comparing to the highlight reels of others online that we never focus on the real reel and forever feel like we need to be doing *more*. always remember the people you look up to have self doubts. they started their journey far from where they are now. feel what you feel, pick yourself up, and push harder towards to your goals.

It’s Friday! So here’s a picture of an adorable kiddo with his new pupper to start your weekend 😍🐶

New floral backgrounds call for new selfies. Summer, please hurry.

So often we want something so bad that we tend to manipulate situations, or people, or things to try and make it work for us. But sometimes we are better off cutting our losses and moving forward onto the bigger and better things waiting for us on the other side. If it doesn’t open, it isn’t your time - maybe it’s only for the immediate future it isn’t in our path. It’s hard to hear, it’s hard to think about it. But there is a plan and a future out there waiting for you to commit to the things meant for you. So get back up and try again.

What travel destinations are on your travel bucket-list? I haven’t had quite the luxury as to visit a lot of my places, but every time I travel to a new destination, I find a new piece of myself that I’d never really discovered before. For example, the first time I finally got to visit Chicago, a new part of me felt home, like it clicked together with the rest of me like a puzzle piece. It was weird, but it felt like I had a reason to visit that city. I also learned I actually like sports and the beer you get to drink while watching the Jays @ White Sox with the view in the stands is even better. 7 on a summer Tuesday? Baseball + 🍻. I discovered a love for architecture and the incredible photography you can create with it, and found my love for ferris wheels, thanks to the beautiful @navypier 🎡. This is a place I can’t wait to rediscover in the upcoming September .

I once read that if you want to see what a person is afraid of losing then you should pay attention to what they take photos of. In my personal life, that’s fairly accurate - it’s mostly photos of my dog and everyone knows how much I love that guy. But in my professional career, I find a quote from Annie Leibovitz very apt: “A thing that you see in my pictures is that I was not afraid to to fall in love with these people” ....or places, or things. The human body itself is an art form. The way the raw light falls on the people, places, things you see every day changes steadily and turns it into something ever changing. The way I see photography is that it represents a moment of ‘present.’ As soon as you photograph a subject they become part of the past. Step away from perfection and just reveal. And like Ansel Adams taught us, learn where to stand.
