My uncle, Francisco Gutierrez (Pacho), passed peacefully last Friday after complications from pneumonia. He was 67 years young. The wake and viewing will be at Lynch Funeral home in Queens this Saturday June 2nd, the funeral service will be on Monday June 4th. He was in a nursing home over the last 3 years, after complications from heart surgery that had failed to provide proper drainage to spinal fluid and caused seizures to his brain.
I post these images today as a remembrance to a loving and kind man who was very dear and close to our family.
He was many things:
a loving father and uncle
immigrant who helped add flavor to this country
and old school leftist from the Che Guevara days who would have insightful conversation with me about politics and power structures.
I come from a large extended & tight knit family and very grateful that everyone has been helpful in doing their part. I find his loss hitting me everyday in small doses.
Most of all I’ll miss his energy and conversations.
