“Chiumku Lagi”, the Malay translated version of “Besame Mucho” was recorded in 1947, (way before Nat King Cole’s or even Elvis Presley’s version) by the legendary singer Nona Asiah and has not been sung or recorded anywhere else by anyone else ever since. Not many knew of this version.
I cant remember when it was but the first time I heard this song, I fell so much in love. It was a very old and raw recording of the song which I assume was extracted from the vinyls/tapes recorded 70 years ago but it was golden. Translated so beautifully.
I knew then that I’d have to bring this song with me wherever I go and introduce it to as many people possible. It felt like I was handed the responsibilty and the trust to do it although nobody told me to 😂😂 And so far I’ve only sung this song in a number of weddings and corporate events so I gotta thank @adlysyairi & @ellyarifin for letting me do this on national television backed up by @zachzainir on keys, @ejashahrezza on drums, @amai_87 on bass and @khazrinyani on guitar.
Mama Nona, this one’s for you. Always ❤️

Oh hatiku bergoncang
Siapakan sangka kau ku peluk
Rapat dan berbisik oh sayang
Jika kau pergi
Mimpiku melayang hidupku seakan mati
