American Indian Student Svcs  American Indian Student Services at UNM provides opportunities that enhance the ability of American Indian students to be successful.

#AISB18 is in full swing & today is the 1st day of classes for this year’s cohort that is sure to experience academic success with the assistance & support of our dynamic AISB Tutor Team:: Amaris Benavidez is as Senior in the #UNM BA/MD Program majoring in Biology major with a double minor in Spanish & HMHV. As a Math Tutor, she’s eager to help students sharpen their math skills & become more confident on campus by encouraging the exploration of different buildings & meeting new people across campus. Her best piece of advice for this year’s cohort is: “Study hard, but then reward yourself later!” Kalila Bohsali is ready to share a wide range of writing tips & tricks in her role as the English Tutor. As a 2nd-year Graduate Student, she has a lot of insight to share about how best to navigate college life; establish key time management skills, and incorporate movement-based activities into academic studies!

It’s not “Goodbye”, it’s “SEE YOU IN FIVE WEEKS!” Families shared in the excitement of seeing their 1st-year #Lobos off to #AISB18 & their #UNM journey for the next 35 days; and students got acquainted with their new #AISBFam! #LoboLove 😍

The #AISSLobo highlight is back for the Summer term! Meet the 2018 American Indian Summer Bridge (AISB) Residential Advisor Team who’s working hard to prepare for and welcome the #AISB18 cohort. They bring a wealth of #UNM student experience and academic skills to support incoming first-year students.
As an experienced mentor, Janet Ramirez will connect students to campus resources like American Indian Student Services, El Centro de la Raza, and the Women’s Resource Center and help students manage their time & better navigate through college.
Spencer Sandoval (Navajo) is a former AISB 2016 participant & is prepared to impact the #AISB18 cohort by sharing #TipsAndTricks for teambuilding & leadership opportunities across the #UNM campus.
As a former AISB participant, Antawn Wood (Navajo) is now giving back to the program in a professional role & hopes to inspire first-year students to keep going even when the going gets tough.
Kianna Holian (Cochiti Pueblo/Jemez Pueblo/Diné) is ready to share her #UNM insider secrets about campus involvement, FREE student events, and academic resources with the #AISB18 cohort.
